Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, says it is in China's interest to pressure the Iranian government to open the Strait of Hormuz.

According to a report by Fox News on Rubio's statements during his trip to China, he said: "We have made this argument to the Chinese, and I hope it is convincing. They will have an opportunity to take action on this issue at the United Nations later this week when a resolution condemning Iran's actions regarding the straits is presented."
Rubio stated that the Iranian government has been building a capacity to disable the defense systems of regional countries with "a multitude of missiles and drones" and to respond to any potential attack on its nuclear program by threatening to inflict widespread damage on Gulf countries.
Marco Rubio also pointed out that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz is more detrimental to China than to any other country, and Beijing should pressure Iran to withdraw from its actions.

مارکو روبیو، وزیر خارجه آمریکا، می‌گوید به نفع چین است که حکومت ایران را برای باز کردن تنگه هرمز تحت فشار بگذارد.

براساس گزارشی که فاکس‌نیوز از اظهارات روبیو در راه سفر به چین پخش کرد، او گفت: «ما این استدلال را با چینی‌ها مطرح کرده‌ایم و امیدوارم قانع‌کننده باشد. آن‌ها اواخر این هفته در سازمان ملل فرصت خواهند داشت دربارهٔ این موضوع اقدامی انجام دهند؛ زمانی که قطعنامه‌ای برای محکوم کردن اقدامات ایران در ارتباط با تنگه‌ها مطرح می‌شود.»
روبیو گفت حکومت ایران در حال ایجاد ظرفیتی بوده که بتواند با «انبوهی از موشک‌ها و پهپادها» سامانه‌های دفاعی کشورهای منطقه را از کار بیندازد و هرگونه حملهٔ احتمالی به برنامه هسته‌ای خود را با تهدید به وارد کردن خسارت گسترده به کشورهای خلیج فارس پاسخ دهد.
مارکو روبیو همچنین با اشاره به بحران تنگه هرمز، گفت این وضعیت بیش از هر کشور دیگری به زیان چین است و پکن باید ایران را برای عقب‌نشینی از اقداماتش تحت فشار بگذارد.
