Scott Basset, the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, in an interview with CNBC during the U.S. President's trip, stated in a pre-recorded interview that he believes China will use its influence over Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

He said, "I think they (the Chinese) will do whatever they can."

Mr. Basset added, "Reopening the Strait of Hormuz is very much in China's interest. I think they will try to work behind the scenes, of course, if anyone can actually influence the decisions of Iran's leadership."

According to the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, China will soon announce a large order of Boeing airplanes and added that both sides are in discussions about improving trade relations, including energy exports.

اسکات بسنت، وزیر دارایی آمریکا، در گفت‌وگویی با شبکه سی‌ان‌بی‌سی در حاشیه سفر رئیس‌جمهور آمریکا، در یک مصاحبه از پیش ضبط‌شده گفت که معتقد است چین از نفوذش بر تهران برای بازگشایی تنگه هرمز استفاده خواهد کرد.

او گفت: «فکر می‌کنم آن‌ها (چینی‌ها) هر کاری از دستشان بربیاید انجام خواهند داد.»

آقای بسنت افزود: « بازگشایی تنگه هرمز بسیار به نفع چین است. فکر می‌کنم آن‌ها پشت پرده تلاش خواهند کرد، البته اگر اصلا کسی بتواند بر تصمیم‌های رهبری ایران تاثیر بگذارد.»

به اعتقاد وزیر دارایی آمریکا، چین به‌زودی سفارش بزرگی از هواپیماهای بوئینگ را اعلام خواهد کرد و افزود دو طرف در حال گفت‌وگو درباره بهبود روابط تجاری از جمله صادرات انرژی هستند.
