The meeting of the foreign ministers of the BRICS member countries in New Delhi, the capital of India, ended without a joint statement due to disagreements among members, particularly between Iran and the United Arab Emirates over the Iran war.

According to Reuters, India announced on Friday, May 25, that instead of a joint statement, a "Chairman's Statement" was issued, as some members had differing views on developments in the Middle East.

The BRICS group includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Ethiopia, Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia.

On Thursday, Iranian media reported a verbal clash at the meeting, stating that Abbas Araghchi, Iran's foreign minister, accused the UAE of direct involvement in the U.S. and Israel's war against Iran, saying that the hosting of U.S. military bases by Abu Dhabi and its security cooperation with Israel had turned it into part of the war.

The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported that, in response, the Emirati delegation demanded that any final statement condemn the Islamic Republic of Iran's missile attacks on the UAE and the seizure of ships, while Tehran insisted on including a clear condemnation of U.S. and Israeli attacks.
