Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, in an interview with NBC, responded to the host's question about the return of the "Freedom Project" (the safe navigation of ships through the Strait of Hormuz by the U.S. military) and the resumption of military operations by saying: "We halted the Freedom Project at Pakistan's request."
Rubio added that Pakistan told us, "If you stop the Freedom Project, we think we can reach an agreement."
He stated that we agreed, and the President prefers diplomacy.
However, Rubio mentioned that we were in the process of withdrawing destroyers from the Strait of Hormuz when you saw the Iranian regime target them.

مارکو روبیو، وزیر خارجه آمریکا در مصاحبه با ان‌بی‌سی در پاسخ به مجری که از او درباره بازگشت «پروژه آزادی» (هدایت امن کشتی‌ها از تنگه هرمز از سوی ارتش آمریکا) و از سرگیری کارزار نظامی پرسید گفت: «ما پروژه آزادی را به درخواست پاکستان متوقف کردیم.»
روبیو افزود: پاکستان به ما گفت اگر پروژه آزادی را متوقف کنید، ما فکر می‌کنیم که می‌توانیم به توافق برسیم.»
او گفت که ما پذیرفتیم و رئیس‌جمهور هم دیپلماسی را ترجیح می‌دهد.
با این حال روبیو گفت ما در حال خارج کردن ناوشکن‌ها از تنگه هرمز بودیم که دیدید رژیم ایران آنها را هدف قرار داد.
