The Judiciary News Agency reported that Rashid Mazaheri, former goalkeeper of the national football team and Esteghlal Tehran, has been "arrested while attempting to illegally exit the western borders of Iran."

In this report, Mazaheri is accused of "planning to leave the country by changing his appearance and bribing border guards."

The Judiciary did not mention the time of this former national football player's arrest.

After the massacre of protesters on December 18 and 19, Mazaheri had released a video on February 24, blaming Ali Khamenei for the deaths of the protesters. After the release of that video, there was no news about his situation for a long time.

The Mizan news agency has reported that Mazaheri is currently in the "general section of the prison" and is set to be tried on charges of "bribing a government official," "propaganda activities against national security in wartime," and "attempting to cross the border illegally."

خبرگزاری قوه‌قضائیه گزارش داد رشید مظاهری، دروازه‌بان پیشین تیم ملی فوتبال و استقلال تهران، «هنگام تلاش برای خروج غیرقانونی از مرزهای غربی ایران بازداشت شده است.»
میزان در این گزارش رشید مظاهری را متهم کرده که «قصد داشته با تغییر چهره و پرداخت رشوه به ماموران مرزبانی از کشور خارج شود.»

قوه قضائیه به زمان بازداشت این بازیکن پیشین تیم ملی فوتبال ایران اشاره نکرده است.

رشید مظاهری پس از کشتار معترضان در ۱۸ و ۱۹ دی، با انتشار ویدیویی در پنجم اسفند، علی خامنه‌ای را مسئول کشته‌شدن معترضان معرفی کرده بود. پس از انتشار آن ویدیو، تا مدت‌ها خبری از وضعیت او منتشر نشده بود.
خبرگزاری میزان گزارش کرده که مظاهری در «بند عمومی زندان» به سر می‌برد و قرار است به اتهام‌های «پرداخت رشوه به مامور دولت»، «فعالیت تبلیغی برخلاف امنیت ملی در شرایط جنگی» و «اقدام به عبور غیرمجاز از مرز» محاکمه شود.
