Donald Trump, the President of the United States, before leaving Washington for Connecticut, spoke to reporters at the airport about the confrontation with Iran and the options on the table.

He claimed, referring to the internal situation in Iran: "There is a lot of anger in Iran right now because people are living in very bad conditions. There is unrest and turmoil there that we have not seen before; we will have to see what happens."

In response to a reporter's question about the possibility of a "limited agreement to extend the ceasefire," Trump said: "We are going to try this chance. I am in no hurry; although the midterm elections are coming up, ideally I would prefer fewer people to be killed rather than many."

The President of the United States also expressed doubt about the intentions of Tehran's officials, saying: "I am surprised whether they really want what is good for their people or not; their behavior shows that they are not thinking about the people, while they should consider the well-being of the entire region."

دونالد ترامپ، رئیس‌جمهوری آمریکا، پیش از ترک واشنگتن به مقصد کانتیکت، در گفتگو با خبرنگاران در فرودگاه به تشریح وضعیت تقابل با ایران و گزینه‌های روی میز پرداخت.

او با اشاره به وضعیت داخلی ایران مدعی شد: «در حال حاضر خشم زیادی در ایران وجود دارد، زیرا مردم در شرایط بسیار بدی زندگی می‌کنند. ناآرامی و تلاطمی در آنجا جریان دارد که قبلا نظیرش را ندیده‌ایم؛ باید دید چه پیش می‌آید.»

ترامپ در پاسخ به سوال خبرنگار درباره احتمال انجام یک «توافق محدود برای تمدید آتش‌بس» گفت: «ما این شانس را امتحان می‌کنیم. من عجله‌ای ندارم؛ هرچند موضوع انتخابات میان‌دوره‌ای مطرح است، اما در حالت ایده‌آل ترجیح می‌دهم به جای افراد زیاد، آدم‌های کمتری کشته شوند.»

رئیس‌جمهوری آمریکا همچنین با ابراز تردید درباره نیت مقامات تهران گفت: «من متعجبم که آیا آن‌ها واقعا خیر و صلاح مردم خود را می‌خواهند یا خیر؛ رفتار آن‌ها نشان می‌دهد که به فکر مردم نیستند، در حالی که باید خیر و صلاح کل منطقه را در نظر بگیرند.»
