Britain has unveiled a $5 billion trade agreement with Gulf countries; an agreement that, amid regional tensions following the Iran war, sends a "message of stability and confidence" to the markets, according to London.
This agreement with the Gulf Cooperation Council includes Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain, and is expected to add around £3.7 billion to the UK economy annually.
London states that 93% of tariffs from Gulf countries on British goods will be eliminated, including food products, cars, aerospace, and electronics.
In return, Britain will also reduce some tariffs, although oil and gas from Arab countries have already been imported into Britain tariff-free.
Human rights activists have criticized the lack of binding clauses on human rights in this agreement, describing it as a "moral regression."

بریتانیا از توافق تجاری ۵ میلیارد دلاری با کشورهای خلیج فارس رونمایی کرد؛ توافقی که در بحبوحه تنش‌های منطقه‌ای پس از جنگ ایران، به گفته لندن «پیامی از ثبات و اعتماد» به بازارها می‌دهد.
این توافق با شورای همکاری خلیج فارس شامل عربستان، امارات، قطر، کویت، عمان و بحرین است و قرار است سالانه حدود ۳.۷ میلیارد پوند به اقتصاد بریتانیا اضافه کند.
لندن می‌گوید ۹۳ درصد تعرفه‌های کشورهای خلیج فارس برای کالاهای بریتانیایی حذف می‌شود؛ از جمله محصولات غذایی، خودرو، صنایع هوافضا و الکترونیک.
در مقابل، بریتانیا نیز برخی تعرفه‌ها را کاهش می‌دهد، هرچند نفت و گاز کشورهای عربی پیش‌تر هم بدون تعرفه وارد بریتانیا می‌شد.
فعالان حقوق بشر از نبود بندهای الزام‌آور درباره حقوق بشر در این توافق انتقاد کرده‌اند و آن را «عقب‌گرد اخلاقی» توصیف کردند.
