Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, announced on Thursday that if Tehran implements a toll system for passage through the Strait of Hormuz, reaching a diplomatic agreement between the United States and Iran will be impossible.

In a conversation with reporters, he said: "No one in the world supports a toll system. Such a thing cannot happen. It would be unacceptable. If they continue to pursue its implementation, reaching a diplomatic agreement becomes impossible. Therefore, if they want to do such a thing, it is a threat to the world and completely illegal."

He also reported that there have been "advancements" in negotiations with Tehran to end the U.S. and Israeli war against Iran, and according to him, "there are good signs," but Washington is facing "a system that is somewhat fractured and divided."

The U.S. Secretary of State noted that senior officials from Pakistan will travel to Tehran today as mediators in the negotiations, stating: "The President of the United States prefers that a good agreement is reached... I am not here to say that such an event will definitely happen, but I am here to say that we will do everything we can to see if we can reach an agreement or not."

He also added that if a good agreement is not reached, Donald Trump "has clearly stated that he has other options."

Previously, reports had emerged about the visit of Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, to Tehran on Thursday. Iranian official news agencies published this news a day after the Pakistani Interior Minister entered Tehran for the second time this week.

مارکو روبیو، وزیر خارجه آمریکا، روز پنج‌شنبه اعلام کرد اگر تهران طرح دریافت عوارض برای عبور از تنگه هرمز را اجرا کند، رسیدن به یک توافق دیپلماتیک میان ایالات متحده و ایران غیرممکن خواهد شد.

او در گفت‌وگو با خبرنگاران گفت: «هیچ‌کس در جهان از سیستم عوارض‌گیری حمایت نمی‌کند. چنین چیزی نمی‌تواند اتفاق بیفتد. غیرقابل قبول خواهد بود. اگر آنها همچنان دنبال اجرای آن باشند، رسیدن به یک توافق دیپلماتیک غیرممکن می‌شود. بنابراین اگر بخواهند چنین کاری انجام دهند، این تهدیدی برای جهان است و کاملاً غیرقانونی است.»

او همچنین خبر داد که در مذاکرات با تهران برای پایان دادن به جنگ آمریکا و اسرائیل علیه ایران، «پیشرفت‌هایی» حاصل شده است و به گفته او «نشانه‌های خوبی وجود دارد»، اما واشینگتن با «سیستمی روبه‌روست که خودش تا حدی دچار شکاف و چنددستگی است.»

وزیر خارجه ایالات متحده با اشاره به این که مقام‌های ارشد پاکستان به عنوان میانجی مذاکرات امروز به تهران سفر خواهند کند، گفت: «ترجیح رئیس‌جمهور آمریکا این است که یک توافق خوب حاصل شود... من اینجا نیستم که بگویم حتماً چنین اتفاقی خواهد افتاد، اما اینجا هستم که بگویم ما هر کاری بتوانیم انجام می‌دهیم تا ببینیم آیا می‌توانیم به توافق برسیم یا نه.»
او در عین حال افزود که اگر یک توافق خوب حاصل نشود، دونالد ترامپ «به‌روشنی گفته است گزینه‌های دیگری هم دارد.»

پیش از این گزارش‌هایی درباره سفر روز پنجشنبه فیلد مارشال عاصم منیر، رئیس ستاد ارتش پاکستان، به تهران منتشر شده است. خبرگزاری‌های رسمی ایران این خبر را یک روز پس از آن منتشر کردند که وزیر کشور پاکستان، برای دومین‌ بار طی هفته جاری وارد تهران شد.
