The Supreme Court of the country overturned the death sentences of Mohammad Reza Majidi Asl and his wife, Bita Hemmati, who were among those arrested during the protests in December 2024.

Hengaw reported that the case of these two defendants has been referred for re-examination to a parallel branch.

Previously, they, along with Behrouz Zamani Nejad and Kourosh Zamani Nejad, had been sentenced to death by Judge Iman Afshari, the head of Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, for the charge of "operational action for the hostile government of the United States and hostile groups."

دیوان عالی کشور احکام اعدام محمدرضا مجیدی‌اصل و همسرش بیتا همتی، از بازداشت‌شدگان اعتراضات دی‌ماه ۱۴۰۴، را نقض کرد.

هرانا خبر داد که پرونده این دو متهم برای رسیدگی مجدد به شعبه هم‌عرض ارجاع شده است.

این دو پیش‌تر به همراه بهروز زمانی‌نژاد و کوروش زمانی‌نژاد با حکم صادرشده از سوی قاضی ایمان افشاری، رئیس شعبه ۲۶ دادگاه انقلاب تهران، از بابت اتهام «اقدام عملیاتی برای دولت متخاصم ایالات متحده و گروه‌های متخاصم» به اعدام محکوم شده بودند.
