Donald Trump, the President of the United States, is set to hold an unprecedented meeting with his cabinet members at the presidential retreat Camp David on Wednesday; a meeting that, according to a White House official, comes as negotiations regarding Iran approach a critical stage.

Agence France-Presse reported that the choice of Camp David, a remote retreat in the Maryland mountains that Trump has visited less frequently than many previous presidents, reflects the sensitivity of the upcoming discussions.

The New York Post has reported that the main focus of this meeting will be Iran, and all cabinet members [including Tulsi Gabbard, the resigned Director of National Intelligence] will be present. According to this report, economic issues will also be on the agenda.

Camp David has previously been the site of several significant diplomatic developments led by the U.S., including the 1978 agreements between Israel and Egypt during Jimmy Carter's presidency and the failed Israeli-Palestinian summit in 2000 during Bill Clinton's presidency.

This will be Trump's second visit to Camp David during his second term; the first was just days before the U.S. attacks on Iran's nuclear program in June 2025.

کمپ دیوید در گذشته صحنه چند تحول مهم دیپلماتیک به رهبری آمریکا بوده، از جمله توافق‌های سال ۱۹۷۸ میان اسرائیل و مصر در دوره جیمی کارتر و نشست ناکام اسرائیلی‌ـفلسطینی در سال ۲۰۰۰ در دوره بیل کلینتون.

این دومین سفر ترامپ به کمپ دیوید در دوره دوم ریاست‌جمهوری او خواهد بود؛ نخستین بار چند روز پیش از حملات آمریکا به برنامه هسته‌ای ایران در خرداد ۱۴۰۴ بود.
