The White House announced on Wednesday that a report published by the Islamic Republic's broadcasting service, which referred to a draft of an initial and unofficial framework for an agreement between Iran and the United States, is "not accurate" and the mentioned agreement is "completely fabricated."

Iran's state television had reported hours earlier that a draft framework agreement with the United States includes a commitment to lift the maritime blockade on Iran, restore traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, and withdraw American forces from the Persian Gulf region.

The White House stated in a release: "This report from Iranian-controlled media is not true, and the agreement they published is completely fabricated. No one should believe what Iranian state media publishes. Facts matter."

The IRIB report claimed that the U.S. has committed to lifting the maritime blockade on Iran, and in return, Iran has pledged to restore the number of commercial vessels passing through to pre-tension levels within a month.

The Islamic Republic's television also stated that according to this draft, the "management and navigation" of vessels will be conducted in cooperation with Oman, and the U.S. has committed to withdrawing its military forces from "the surrounding environment of Iran."

کاخ سفید روز چهارشنبه اعلام کرد گزارشی که از سوی صداوسیمای جمهوری اسلامی منتشر شده و به پیش‌نویس یک چارچوب اولیه و غیررسمی برای تفاهم‌نامه میان ایران و ایالات متحده اشاره داشت، «صحیح نیست» و تفاهم‌نامه مورد اشاره «کاملاً ساختگی» است.

تلویزیون حکومتی ایران ساعتی قبل گزارش داده بود که پیش‌نویس یک توافق چارچوبی با ایالات متحده شامل تعهد به لغو محاصره دریایی ایران، بازگرداندن رفت‌وآمد در تنگه هرمز و خروج نیروهای آمریکایی از منطقه خلیج فارس است.

کاخ سفید در بیانیه‌ای اعلام کرد: «این گزارش رسانه‌های تحت کنترل ایران حقیقت ندارد و تفاهم‌نامه‌ای که آنها منتشر کرده‌اند کاملاً ساختگی است. هیچ‌کس نباید آنچه رسانه‌های دولتی ایران منتشر می‌کنند را باور کند. واقعیت‌ها اهمیت دارند.»

گزارش صداوسیما مدعی شده بود که آمریکا متعهد به رفع محاصره دریایی ایران شده و در مقابل، ایران تعهد داده تعداد کشتی‌های عبوری تجاری را طی یک ماه به سطح پیش از تنش‌ها بازگرداند.

تلویزیون جمهوری اسلامی همچنین گفته بود بر اساس این پیش‌نویس، «مدیریت و مسیر عبور و مرور» کشتی‌ها با ایران و همکاری عمان انجام خواهد شد و آمریکا تعهد داده نیروهای نظامی این کشور از «محیط پیرامونی ایران خارج شوند».
