Scott Basset, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, stated in an interview with Fox News about Iran: "The first and second layers of their government have collapsed, and now we are facing the third layer. Perhaps they have seen what happened to others and are realizing what actions Trump is ready to take."

Basset added: "If Trump agrees to this deal, I tell the leaders of the Islamic Republic right now that he will implement this agreement both militarily and economically. Freedom of navigation in the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz must return to its previous state."

When asked if Trump will "get the job done," he said: "If 'getting the job done' means ensuring the Strait of Hormuz is open, taking control of highly enriched uranium, and preventing the Islamic Republic from having nuclear weapons, then the job is done."

Basset emphasized: "Whether through military intervention, blockade, or economic pressure, this is the first time in 47 years that Iranians are discussing not having nuclear weapons. This topic was previously taboo, and now it has been put on the negotiating table for the first time."

اسکات بسنت، وزیر خزانه‌داری آمریکا، در گفت‌وگو با فاکس‌نیوز درباره ایران اعلام کرد: لایه اول و دوم حکومت آن‌ها از بین رفته و اکنون با لایه سوم روبه‌رو هستیم. شاید آن‌ها دیده‌اند برای بقیه چه اتفاقی افتاد و می‌بینند ترامپ آماده انجام چه اقداماتی است.

بسنت افزود: اگر ترامپ با این توافق موافقت کند، همین حالا به رهبران جمهوری اسلامی می‌گویم که او این توافق را هم از نظر نظامی و هم از نظر اقتصادی اجرا خواهد کرد. آزادی کشتیرانی در خلیج فارس از طریق تنگه هرمز باید به وضعیت پیشین بازگردد.

او درباره اینکه آیا ترامپ «کار را تمام خواهد کرد» گفت: اگر «تمام کردن کار» یعنی اطمینان از باز بودن تنگه هرمز، در اختیار گرفتن اورانیوم با غنای بالا و نداشتن سلاح هسته‌ای از سوی جمهوری اسلامی، پس کار تمام شده است.

بسنت تاکید کرد: چه از طریق مداخله نظامی، چه محاصره یا فشار اقتصادی، این نخستین بار در ۴۷ سال گذشته است که ایرانی‌ها درباره نداشتن سلاح هسته‌ای گفت‌وگو می‌کنند. این موضوع پیش‌تر ممنوعه بود و اکنون برای نخستین بار روی میز مذاکره قرار گرفته است.
