Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, stated in a Senate Foreign Relations Committee meeting that the Islamic Republic was on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons, and if the Epic Fury operation had not taken place, it would have been too late.
Mr. Rubio reminded that the military capabilities of the Islamic Republic have been severely weakened, adding that for the first time in history, the Islamic Republic of Iran has accepted many of the conditions set by the U.S. to reach an agreement.
According to him, the rift in the political power structure of the Islamic Republic and the lengthy time taken to convey messages have prolonged the negotiations. However, naturally, if the negotiations do not achieve the desired outcome for the U.S., the United States will pursue other options.

Earlier, the Fars news agency, affiliated with the IRGC, reported, citing an informed source, that the exchange of messages between the Islamic Republic and the U.S. regarding what is referred to as reaching an initial memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington has been halted for at least several days.

مارکو روبیو، وزیر خارجه آمریکا در جلسه کمیته روابط خارجی سنا گفت که جمهوری اسلامی در حال دستیابی به سلاح هسته‌ای بود و اگر عملیات خشم حماسی صورت نمی‌گرفت دیر می‌شد.
آقای روبیو با یادآوری این که توانایی نظامی جمهوری اسلامی به شدت تضعیف شده، افزود که جمهوری اسلامی ایران برای اولین بار در تاریخ، بسیاری از شرایط مدنظر آمریکا برای رسیدن به توافق را پذیرفته است.
به گفته او شکاف در ساختار قدرت سیاسی جمهوری اسلامی و زمان طولانی رسیدن پیام‌ها مذاکرات را طولانی کرده است. اما طبعا اگر مذاکرات به هدف دلخواه آمریکا نرسد، ایالات متحده گزینه‌های دیگری را درپیش خواهد گرفت.

پیش‌تر ‌خبرگزاری فارس، وابسته به سپاه، به نقل از یک منبع آگاه نوشت که تبادل پیام بین جمهوری اسلامی و آمریکا برای آنچه دست‌یابی به یادداشت تفاهم اولیه بین تهران و واشینگتن خوانده می‌شود، دست‌کم چند روز است که متوقف شده است.
