While the players of the Iranian national football team have received visas to participate in the World Cup in the United States after months of uncertainty, it has been reported that the visa application of Mehdi Taj, the president of the Iranian Football Federation, has been rejected.

According to the New York Times, citing four senior officials, the visa applications of all 26 Iranian players have been accepted, but more than ten members of the support staff and federation officials who were supposed to accompany the team have not been granted entry into the United States.

One of these officials stated that Mehdi Taj's visa, who has a background in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has also been rejected. The U.S. and Canada have designated the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization.

در حالی که بازیکنان تیم ملی فوتبال ایران پس از ماه‌ها ابهام، برای حضور در جام جهانی آمریکا روادید دریافت کرده‌اند، گزارش شده است که درخواست روادید مهدی تاج، رئیس فدراسیون فوتبال ایران، رد شده است.

به گزارش نیویورک‌تایمز به نقل از چهار مقام ارشد، درخواست همهٔ ۲۶ بازیکن ایران پذیرفته شده، اما بیش از ده نفر از اعضای کادر پشتیبانی و مسئولان فدراسیون که قرار بود تیم را همراهی کنند، اجازه ورود به آمریکا نگرفته‌اند.

یکی از این مقام‌ها گفته است روادید مهدی تاج، که سابقه فرماندهی در سپاه پاسداران انقلاب اسلامی دارد، نیز رد شده است. آمریکا و کانادا سپاه پاسداران را یک نهاد تروریستی معرفی کرده‌اند.
