Benjamin Netanyahu's office, the Prime Minister of Israel, announced on Sunday that the country's army targeted military command centers in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

The statement read: "In accordance with the orders of Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz, the Israel Defense Forces targeted a military command center in the Dahieh area of Beirut moments ago. This action was taken in response to Hezbollah's fire towards Israeli territory."

This is the first attack on Hezbollah's main base since the ceasefire established on April 16, mediated by international parties. The United States announced last week that the governments of Israel and Lebanon reached a conditional extension of the ceasefire.

Hezbollah, the group supported by the Islamic Republic, has rejected proposals that condition the establishment of a ceasefire on the disarmament of this group, emphasizing that Israel must first stop its attacks and withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon. Dahieh is the main location for Hezbollah's command and forces. This group is recognized as terrorist by the United States, but the European Union has only listed its military wing as a terrorist organization.

The Israeli army stated earlier that it intercepted two projectiles fired from Lebanon towards Israeli territory. Iran, which is negotiating with the U.S. to reach a war-ending agreement, had previously threatened to resume hostilities if Israel attacked Beirut.

دفتر بنیامین نتانیاهو، نخست‌وزیر اسرائیل، روز یکشنبه اعلام کرد که ارتش این کشور مراکز فرماندهی نیروهای مسلح را در حومه جنوبی بیروت هدف حمله قرار داده است.

در این بیانیه آمده است: «مطابق دستورهای نخست‌وزیر نتانیاهو و وزیر دفاع کاتز، نیروهای دفاعی اسرائیل دقایقی پیش یک مرکز فرماندهی نیروهای مسلح را در منطقه ضاحیه بیروت هدف قرار دادند. این اقدام در پاسخ به شلیک‌های حزب‌الله به سوی خاک اسرائیل انجام شده است.»

این نخستین حمله به پایگاه اصلی حزب‌الله از زمان برقراری آتش‌بسی است که روز ۱۶ آوریل با میانجی‌گری طرف‌های بین‌المللی حاصل شد. آمریکا هفته گذشته اعلام کرد دولت‌های اسرائیل و لبنان به تمدید آتش‌بس به شکل مشروط دست یافتند.

حزب‌الله، گروه مورد حمایت جمهوری اسلامی، پیشنهادهایی را که برقراری آتش‌بس را به خلع سلاح این گروه مشروط می‌کند رد کرده و تأکید دارد که اسرائیل باید ابتدا حملات خود را متوقف کرده و نیروهایش را از جنوب لبنان خارج کند.
ضاحیه محل اصلی استقرار فرماندهی و نیروهای حزب‌الله است. این گروه از سوی آمریکا تروریستی شناخته می‌شود، اما اتحادیه اروپا تنها شاخه نظامی آن را در فهرست سازمان‌های تروریستی قرار داده است.

ارتش اسرائیل ساعتی پیش گفته بود دو پرتابه شلیک شده از لبنان به سمت خاک اسرائیل را رهگیری کرده است.
ایران که در حال مذاکره با آمریکا برای رسیدن به توافق پایان جنگ است، پیش‌تر تهدید کرده بود در صورت حمله اسرائیل به بیروت، جنگ را ازسرمی‌گیرد.
