Abdul Rahim Soleimani Ardestani, a member of the Society of Teachers and Researchers of Qom Seminary, has been sentenced by the Special Clerical Court to six years in prison, removal from clerical status, and a monetary fine.

Mr. Soleimani Ardestani's close associates announced that he is only willing to appeal this ruling if a public trial is held; otherwise, he will accept the verdict without objection.

He has been accused of offenses such as insulting sacred beliefs, insulting Ali and Mojtaba Khamenei, insulting the sanctities of Shia Islam, insulting religious authorities, and defaming Shia clergy.

Soleimani Ardestani was arrested in Farvardin by security forces and transferred to Qom's coastal prison.

Before his arrest, in analyzing Mojtaba Khamenei's first message that praised Ali Khamenei, he wrote: "The most important talent of your father was that he labeled his opponents and critics as ignorant or foreign mercenaries and justified any action against them! Among his moral traits, I found stubbornness and vindictiveness to be very prominent."

عبدالرحیم سلیمانی اردستانی، عضو مجمع مدرسین و محققین حوزه علمیه قم، توسط دادگاه ویژه روحانیت به شش سال حبس، خلع لباس روحانیت و پرداخت جزای نقدی محکوم شد.

نزدیکان آقای سلیمانی اردستانی اعلام کردند که وی تنها به شرط برگزاری دادگاه علنی حاضر به اعتراض به این حکم است و در غیر اینصورت، حکم را بدون اعتراض می‌پذیرد.

او به اتهاماتی چون توهین به مقدسات، توهین به علی و مجتبی خامنه‌ای، توهین به مقدسات تشیع، توهین به مراجع دینی و هتک حیثیت روحانیت شیعه متهم شده است.

سلیمانی اردستانی در فروردین ماه توسط نیروهای امنیتی بازداشت و به زندان ساحلی قم منتقل شد.

او پیش از بازداشت و در تحلیل نخستین پیام مجتبی خامنه‌ای که به تجلیل از علی خامنه‌ای پرداخته بود، نوشت: «مهم‌ترین هنر والد شما این بود که مخالفان و منتقدان خود را بی‌بصیرت یا مزدور بیگانگان می‌خواند و هر برخوردی را با آنان روا می‌دانست! از صفات اخلاقی ایشان دو صفت لجبازی و کینه‌توزی را بسیار برجسته یافتم.»
