According to two officials from the Islamic Republic, whose names were not disclosed by the New York Times, Tehran waited until after midnight local time to finalize the agreement, as it did not want this significant event to coincide with the birthday of Donald Trump, the President of the United States, on Sunday.
The report states that the seven-and-a-half-hour time difference between Tehran and Washington allowed both sides to present their preferred narratives regarding the timing of the agreement's finalization. Trump claimed that the agreement was finalized on Sunday, while Iran stated that the process was completed the following day. Donald Trump was born on June 14, 1946.

به گفته دو مقام جمهوری اسلامی که نیویورک‌تایمز نام آنها را اعلام نکرده، تهران تا پس از عبور ساعت از نیمه‌شب به وقت محلی صبر کرد تا توافق را نهایی کند، زیرا نمی‌خواست این رویداد مهم با روز تولد دونالد ترامپ، رئیس‌جمهوری آمریکا، در روز یکشنبه هم‌زمان شود.
بر اساس این گزارش، اختلاف زمانی هفت‌ونیم ساعته میان تهران و واشینگتن باعث شد هر دو طرف بتوانند روایت مورد نظر خود را از زمان نهایی شدن توافق ارائه دهند. ترامپ گفته بود توافق در روز یکشنبه نهایی شده، در حالی که ایران اعلام کرده بود این روند در روزی بعد از آن تکمیل شده است. دونالد ترامپ ۱۴ ژوئن ۱۹۴۶ به دنیا آمده است.
