JD Vance, the Vice President of the United States, defended Donald Trump's administration's policies towards the Islamic Republic of Iran in an interview with CBS's morning program, criticizing those who, according to him, are merely seeking to continue military conflict.

Vance differentiated between "tools" and "goals" in Washington's foreign policy, stating: "The President used diplomacy, economic leverage, and military pressure to ensure that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons; that has always been the main goal." He criticized the hardliners, adding: "Some just want the bombings to continue, without considering whether this actually brings any benefits to the American people."

The Vice President of the United States emphasized at the end that Trump's goal is not to create misery and suffering for the people of Iran, but rather the main focus of his administration is to curb weapon programs and prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

جی‌دی ونس، معاون رئیس‌جمهوری آمریکا، در گفتگو با برنامه صبحگاهی شبکه سی‌بی‌اس (CBS)، از سیاست‌های دولت دونالد ترامپ در قبال جمهوری اسلامی ایران دفاع کرد و به انتقاد از کسانی پرداخت که به گفته او، صرفا به دنبال تداوم درگیری نظامی هستند.

ونس با تفکیک میان «ابزار» و «هدف» در سیاست خارجی واشنگتن گفت: «رئیس‌جمهوری از دیپلماسی، اهرم‌های اقتصادی و فشار نظامی استفاده کرد تا مطمئن شود ایران به سلاح هسته‌ای دست پیدا نمی‌کند؛ هدف اصلی همواره همین بوده است». او با انتقاد از تندروها افزود: «بعضی‌ها فقط می‌خواهند بمباران‌ها ادامه داشته باشد، بدون اینکه توجه کنند آیا این کار اصلا دستاوردی برای مردم آمریکا دارد یا خیر».

معاون رئیس‌جمهوری آمریکا در پایان تاکید کرد که هدف ترامپ ایجاد بدبختی و رنج برای مردم ایران نیست، بلکه تمرکز اصلی دولت او، مهار برنامه‌های تسلیحاتی و جلوگیری از دستیابی تهران به سلاح هسته‌ای است.
