Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, announced in his first statement a day after the signing of the Iran-U.S. agreement that Israeli forces will not withdraw from southern Lebanon and will maintain their security buffer zone there for as long as necessary.

These remarks came after Donald Trump, the President of the United States, criticized Israel's operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon in recent days, deeming them overly "aggressive."

Netanyahu stated at an official ceremony: "We will restore security and prosperity to the northern cities." He added, "This requires maintaining a security zone in southern Lebanon; it necessitates that we do not leave until Israel's security needs dictate otherwise."

Lebanese official media previously reported that in the Israeli army's attacks on southern Lebanon on Thursday morning, hours after the signing of the Iran-U.S. agreement, three people were killed.

On the other hand, a senior Israeli official told Reuters on Thursday that Israel is "engaged in tough negotiations" with the United States regarding the continuation of Israeli forces' deployment in southern Lebanon.

بنیامین نتانیاهو، نخست‌وزیر اسرائیل، یک روز بعد از امضای تفاهم‌نامه ایران و آمریکا در نخستین موضع‌گیری خود اعلام کرد که نیروهای اسرائیلی از جنوب لبنان عقب‌نشینی نخواهند کرد و تا هر زمان که لازم باشد منطقه حائل امنیتی خود را در آنجا حفظ خواهند کرد.

این اظهارات پس از آن مطرح شد که دونالد ترامپ، رئیس‌جمهور آمریکا، طی روزهای اخیر از عملیات اسرائیل علیه حزب‌الله لبنان انتقاد کرد و آن را بیش از حد «تهاجمی» دانست.

نتانیاهو در یک مراسم رسمی گفت: «ما امنیت و رونق را به شهرهای شمالی بازخواهیم گرداند.»
او افزود: «این امر مستلزم حفظ منطقه امنیتی در جنوب لبنان است؛ مستلزم آن است که آنجا را ترک نکنیم، تا زمانی که نیازهای امنیتی اسرائیل چنین ایجاب کند.»

رسانه‌های رسمی لبنان پیش‌تر گفتند که در حملات صبح پنجشنبه ارتش اسرائیل به جنوب لبنان، ساعاتی بعد از امضای تفاهم ایران و آمریکا، سه نفر کشته شدند.

از سوی دیگر، یک مقام ارشد اسرائیلی پنجشنبه به خبرگزاری رویترز گفت که اسرائیل «در حال انجام مذاکراتی سرسختانه» با ایالات متحده دربارهٔ موضوع ادامه استقرار نیروهای اسرائیلی در جنوب لبنان است.
