Italy's Foreign Minister announced on Friday that he is canceling his planned trip to the United States in response to reports about Donald Trump's remarks. Antonio Tajani wrote on X: "The extremely offensive words of President Trump... insult all the people of Italy."

According to the Italian network "La7," Trump had said about his meeting with Meloni at the G7 summit: "Meloni wanted to take a picture with me so badly that I only agreed out of pity."

Georgia Meloni, the Prime Minister of Italy, reacted to Trump's recent comments, calling them "completely fabricated" and stated that she was "astonished and shocked" by his behavior towards allies.

She emphasized: "I don't know why the President of the United States behaves this way with his allies," adding that this is not the first time such positions have been expressed by Trump.

Meloni also deemed this approach "regrettable," stating that he shows a firmness towards enemies of the West that he does not apply to some of his allied leaders. The Prime Minister of Italy concluded by emphasizing: "One thing must be remembered; I and Italy will never beg."

In the continuation of these tensions, Antonio Tajani, Italy's Foreign Minister, also announced that he has canceled his planned trip to the U.S. and called these remarks "an insult to the people of Italy."

وزیر امور خارجه ایتالیا روز جمعه اعلام کرد در واکنش به گزارش‌ها درباره اظهارات دونالد ترامپ سفر برنامه‌ریزی‌شده خود به ایالات متحده را لغو می‌کند.

به گزارش شبکه ایتالیایی «لا۷» ترامپ درباره دیدار خود با ملونی در نشست گروه هفت گفته بود: «ملونی آن‌قدر می‌خواست با من عکس بگیرد که فقط از روی دلسوزی با او موافقت کردم.»

نخست‌وزیر ایتالیا در پایان تأکید کرد: «یک چیز را باید به خاطر بسپارد؛ من و ایتالیا هرگز التماس نمی‌کنیم.»

در ادامه این تنش‌ها، آنتونیو تایانی، وزیر امور خارجه ایتالیا، نیز اعلام کرد سفر برنامه‌ریزی‌شده خود به آمریکا را لغو کرده و این اظهارات را «توهین به مردم ایتالیا» خواند.
