An American official told Axios that Steve Wittecuff, the White House envoy, is traveling to Switzerland, where the first round of negotiations with Iran regarding a potential nuclear agreement is expected to take place. According to Axios, the negotiations were scheduled to begin on Friday, June 29, but were postponed due to the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

An Axios reporter quoted a knowledgeable source on Saturday, stating: "Abbas Araqchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, is planning to travel to Switzerland on Saturday. However, this plan may change as before."
The reporter cited a source from one of the mediating countries, revealing that Araqchi told several of his counterparts on Friday: "The issue of a ceasefire in Lebanon is a vital matter for Iran and has a decisive impact on the fate of the negotiations between Iran and the U.S."
The Axios reporter also quoted a second source from among the intermediary countries, adding: "The Iranians have explicitly emphasized that they want to see a complete establishment and stabilization of the ceasefire before traveling to Switzerland."
