The Mizan news agency, affiliated with the judiciary, reported on Sunday that the death sentences of Erfan Esfandiari and Gol Mohammad Mohammadi, two young protesters from the December 2024 protests accused in the case known as the Ali Khani Square in Isfahan, were carried out early that morning.

Last week, the Committee for Following Up on the Status of Detainees in Iran warned that the death sentences of 12 protesters from the December protests in Isfahan in the case known as "Ali Khani Square" had been "confirmed" by the Supreme Court.

Among these 12 individuals, some have been sentenced to death two, three, or even four times, including several teenagers and one Afghan citizen. According to reports, Gol Mohammad Mohammadi was an Afghan citizen.

This case relates to the events of January 7, 2024, in the vicinity of Ali Khani Square, between Malekshahr and Kaveh in Isfahan, where officials of the Islamic Republic announced that four Basij and special forces members named Hossein Ramazani, Mohammad Hemmati, Seyed Ali Khoshouei, and Valiollah Safari were killed.

Following their deaths, 59 people were arrested in Isfahan, and a broad case was opened against them.

This state media accused the protesters of "setting buildings on fire, destroying urban signs, cameras, and traffic lights, vandalizing police stations and precincts, burning tires, blocking streets, attacking pedestrians, and damaging mosques" during the gatherings on January 7 at Ali Khani Square.

According to this report, "enemy agents" were equipped with "various firearms, knives, daggers, and Molotov cocktails" during the protests on January 7, and in the clashes with the Islamic Republic forces at Ali Khani Square, four law enforcement officers were killed.

In the Ali Khani case, 12 individuals have been sentenced to death. At the time of the execution, Esfandiari was 19 years old and Mohammadi was 24.

Ten other defendants in this case who are under death sentences have been transferred to solitary confinement, raising concerns about the imminent execution of their sentences.

خبرگزاری میزان، وابسته به قوه قضاییه، روز یک‌شنبه خبر داد که حکم اعدام عرفان اسفندیاری و گل‌محمد محمدی، دو تن از جوانان معترض دی‌ماه ۱۴۰۴ متهم در پرونده موسوم به میدان علیخانی اصفهان، در بامداد همین روز اجرا شده است.

هفته گذشته کمیته پیگیری وضعیت بازداشت‌شدگان در ایران هشدار داده بود که حکم اعدام ۱۲ نفر از معترضان دی‌ماه در اصفهان در پرونده موسوم به «میدان علیخانی» این شهر، در دیوان عالی کشور «تأیید شده» است.

در میان این ۱۲ نفر که برخی از آن‌ها به دو، سه و حتی چهار بار اعدام محکوم شده‌اند، چندین نوجوان و یک شهروند افغانستان نیز دیده می‌شود. بنا بر گزارش‌ها، گل‌محمد محمدی شهروند افغانستان بود.

این پرونده به وقایع ۱۸ دی‌ماه ۱۴۰۴ در محدوده میدان علیخانی، بین ملک‌شهر و کاوه اصفهان بازمی‌گردد، جایی که مقام‌های جمهوری اسلامی اعلام کردند چهار نیروی بسیج و یگان ویژه به نام‌های حسین رمضانی، محمد همتی، سید علی خشوعی و ولی‌الله صفری کشته‌ شده‌اند.

در پی کشته‌ شدن آنها، ۵۹ نفر در اصفهان بازداشت شدند و برای آنها پرونده‌ای گسترده تشکیل شد.

این رسانه حکومتی معترضان را به «آتش زدن ساختمان‌ها، تخریب تابلوهای شهری، دوربین‌ها و چراغ‌های راهنمایی و رانندگی، تخریب پاسگاه و کلانتری، آتش زدن لاستیک، مسدود کردن خیابان، حمله به مردم در حال تردد در خیابان و تخریب مسجد» در جریان تجمعات ۱۸ دی در میدان علیخانی متهم کرد.

بر اساس این گزارش، «عوامل دشمن» در اعتراضات ۱۸ دی به «انواع سلاح گرم، چاقو، قمه، قداره و کوکتل مولوتوف» مجهز بودند و در جریان درگیری آن‌ها با نیروهای جمهوری اسلامی در میدان علیخانی، چهار مامور انتظامی کشته شدند.

در پرونده میدان علیخانی ۱۲ نفر به اعدام محکوم شده‌اند.
در زمان اجرای حکم اعدام، اسفندیاری ۱۹ سال و محمدی ۲۴ سال سن داشتند.

۱۰ متهم دیگر این پرونده که زیر حکم اعدام قرار دارند، به سلول انفرادی منتقل شده‌اند و نگرانی‌ها درباره احتمال اجرای قریب‌الوقوع حکم آن‌ها بالا گرفته است.
