The Defense Committee of the Bulgarian Parliament approved on Tuesday, July 30, the government's plan to temporarily station American refueling aircraft and military personnel at the Bezmer Air Base; a move that was accompanied by a warning from the Islamic Republic to Sofia.

According to a report by the official Bulgarian news agency, the Defense Committee supported a draft resolution from the Council of Ministers, which allows for a maximum of eight American refueling aircraft and 250 military personnel to be temporarily stationed at the Bezmer Air Base in southeastern Bulgaria to support U.S. operations in the Middle East.

The report states that the U.S. has requested this deployment to last from July 24 to October 1.

In response to a question from CNN regarding this deployment, U.S. Central Command, CENTCOM, stated: "For operational security reasons, we do not comment on troop movements or potential future force posture."

Hours earlier, the Islamic Republic warned the Bulgarian government not to use its territory or facilities to support U.S. military operations against Iran.

Ismail Baqaei, spokesperson for the Islamic Republic's Foreign Ministry, stated that any participation in the planning or execution of such operations would be considered complicity in "aggression and war crimes." He also urged the Bulgarian Parliament to oppose this plan.

Bulgaria, a NATO member, has made the Bezmer Air Base available to the armed forces of both countries under a bilateral defense cooperation agreement signed in 2006.

کمیته دفاع پارلمان بلغارستان روز سه‌شنبه ۳۰ تیر با طرح دولت برای استقرار موقت هواپیماهای سوخت‌رسان و نیروهای نظامی آمریکا در پایگاه هوایی بزمِر موافقت کرد؛ اقدامی که با هشدار جمهوری اسلامی به صوفیه همراه شد.

بر اساس گزارش خبرگزاری رسمی بلغارستان، کمیته دفاع پارلمان از پیش‌نویس مصوبه شورای وزیران حمایت کرد که بر اساس آن، حداکثر هشت فروند هواپیمای سوخت‌رسان آمریکایی و ۲۵۰ نیروی نظامی این کشور می‌توانند به طور موقت در پایگاه هوایی بزمِر در جنوب شرقی بلغارستان مستقر شوند تا از عملیات آمریکا در خاورمیانه پشتیبانی کنند.

بر اساس این گزارش، آمریکا درخواست کرده است این استقرار از ۲۴ ژوییه تا اول اکتبر ادامه داشته باشد.

فرماندهی مرکزی آمریکا، سنتکام، در پاسخ به پرسش شبکه سی‌ان‌ان درباره این استقرار اعلام کرد: «به دلایل امنیت عملیاتی، درباره جابه‌جایی نیروها یا آرایش احتمالی نیروها در آینده اظهار نظر نمی‌کنیم.»

ساعاتی پیش، جمهوری اسلامی به دولت بلغارستان هشدار داد از خاک یا تاسیسات خود برای حمایت از عملیات نظامی آمریکا علیه ایران استفاده نکند.

اسماعیل بقایی، سخنگوی وزارت خارجه جمهوری اسلامی، گفت هرگونه مشارکت در برنامه‌ریزی یا اجرای چنین عملیاتی به منزله همدستی در «جنایت تجاوز و جنایت‌های جنگی» خواهد بود. او همچنین از پارلمان بلغارستان خواست با این طرح مخالفت کند.

بلغارستان که از اعضای ناتو است، بر اساس توافق‌نامه همکاری دفاعی دوجانبه با آمریکا که در سال ۲۰۰۶ امضا شد، پایگاه هوایی بزمِر را به عنوان یک تاسیسات مشترک در اختیار نیروهای مسلح دو کشور قرار داده است.
