Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday, July 30, that Andy Burnham, the new Prime Minister of the UK, has agreed to the United States using British military bases for what London calls "defensive strikes" against Iran, thus continuing the policy of his predecessor, Keir Starmer.
The news agency cited informed sources stating that Starmer held a meeting with ministers and senior officials on July 26 to review the UK's policy following the resumption of US operations earlier this month.
These sources added that during that meeting, ministers decided to continue the existing policy.
According to this policy, Diego Garcia base in the Indian Ocean and the RAF Fairford airbase in Gloucestershire, England, can be made available to American aircraft conducting missions to counter Iran's missile threats and related targets in the Strait of Hormuz.

این خبرگزاری به نقل از منابع آگاه نوشته که استارمر روز ۲۶ تیرماه نشستی با وزرا و مقامهای ارشد برگزار کرد تا سیاست بریتانیا پس از ازسرگیری عملیات آمریکا در اوایل این ماه بررسی شود.
این منابع افزودند که در آن نشست، وزرا تصمیم گرفتند سیاست موجود ادامه یابد.
بر اساس این سیاست، پایگاه دیهگو گارسیا در اقیانوس هند و پایگاه هوایی «آراف فیرفورد» در گلاسترشر انگلستان میتوانند در اختیار هواپیماهای آمریکایی قرار گیرند که مأموریتهایی برای مقابله با تهدید موشکی ایران و نیز اهداف مرتبط با تنگه هرمز انجام میدهند.
