The U.S. Secretary of Defense says that the war with Iran has so far cost $37.5 billion.

Pete Hegseth announced this to members of Congress; the figure reflects an increase of nearly $8 billion in war costs compared to the previous figures announced two months ago.

The U.S. Secretary of Defense emphasized that this new figure also includes projected costs through the end of the current fiscal year, which is September 30, corresponding to October 8, 1405 in the Persian calendar.

Since the resumption of hostilities between Iran and the U.S., this is the first time that Pete Hegseth, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, along with General Dan Kain, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has appeared before a specialized congressional committee dedicated to budget allocation to answer members' questions.

وزیر دفاع ایالات متحده می‌گوید جنگ با ایران تاکنون ۳۷ میلیارد و پانصد میلیون دلار هزینه داشته است.

پیت هگست این موضوع را خطاب به اعضای کنگره اعلام کرد؛ آماری که از افزایش نزدیک به ۸ میلیارد دلاری هزینۀ جنگ، نسبت به ارقام قبلی که دو ماه پیش اعلام شده بود، حکایت دارد.

وزیر دفاع آمریکا البته تأکید کرد که این رقم تازه، هزینه‌های پیش‌بینی‌شده تا پایان سال مالی جاری، یعنی ۳۰ سپتامبر مطابق با ۸ مهرماه ۱۴۰۵ را هم شامل می‌شود.

از زمان آغاز مجدد درگیری‌ها بین ایران و آمریکا، این نخستین بار است که پیت هگست وزیر دفاع ایالات متحده به همراه ژنرال دن کِین رئیس ستاد مشترک نیروهای مسلح این کشور، با حضور در کمیتۀ تخصصی کنگره، ویژۀ تخصیص بودجه، به سوالات اعضا پاسخ می‌دهد.
