The U.S. Secretary of State says Washington is ready to engage and dialogue with Iran to resolve differences.

Marco Rubio, who is in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, stated that the problem is that "Tehran is not serious about dialogue."

During a meeting with his counterparts from Southeast Asian countries that are members of ASEAN, who express serious concern about the new round of conflicts between the U.S. and Iran, the U.S. Secretary of State said: "If the Iranians are serious, we are serious too. If they are not serious, then we will take whatever actions are necessary to protect our interests and those of our allies."

Marco Rubio also mentioned at this meeting that allowing Iran to control the Strait of Hormuz would create a "dangerous precedent."

وزیر خارجۀ ایالات متحده می‌گوید واشینگتن برای تعامل و گفت‌وگو با ایران با هدف حل‌وفصل اختلافات آمادگی دارد.

مارکو روبیو که در مانیل پایتخت فیلیپین به‌سر می‌برد، گفت مشکل این است که «تهران در مورد گفت‌وگو جدی نیست».

وزیر خارجۀ آمریکا در دیدار با همتایانش از کشورهای جنوب شرقی آسیا عضو آسه‌آن، که نسبت به دور جدید درگیری‌ها بین آمریکا و ایران ابراز نگرانی جدی می‌کنند، گفت: «اگر ایرانی‌ها جدی باشند، ما هم جدی هستیم. اگر آنها جدی نباشند، آنوقت برای حفاظت از منافع‌ حود و متحدانمان به هر اقدامی که لازم باشد، دست می‌زنیم».

مارکو روبیو در این نشست همچنین گفت باز گذاشتن دست ایران برای کنترل تنگۀ هرمز، «سابقه‌ای خطرناک» را بوجود خواهد آورد.
