Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, stated that the memorandum with the Islamic Republic was based on adherence to commitments, but Tehran violated it, and as a result, this agreement is no longer valid.

He added that the memorandum included the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and guarantees for freedom of navigation, and the Islamic Republic was supposed to issue a statement about this about a week and a half ago, but on the same day, a ship was attacked.

The U.S. Secretary of State also mentioned that Washington continues to support diplomacy and a negotiated solution, but it seems that the Islamic Republic is currently not serious about this.

Rubio added that China also opposes the actions of the Islamic Republic in the Strait of Hormuz and the imposition of fees on the passage of ships.

مارکو روبیو، وزیر خارجه آمریکا گفت تفاهم‌نامه با جمهوری اسلامی بر پایه پایبندی به تعهدات بود، اما تهران آن را نقض کرد و در نتیجه این توافق دیگر معتبر نیست.

او افزود تفاهم‌نامه شامل بازگشایی تنگه هرمز و تضمین آزادی کشتیرانی بود و جمهوری اسلامی باید حدود یک هفته و نیم پیش بیانیه‌ای در این باره منتشر می‌کرد، اما در همان روز به یک کشتی حمله شد.

وزیر خارجه آمریکا همچنین گفت واشینگتن همچنان از دیپلماسی و راه‌حل مذاکره حمایت می‌کند، اما به نظر می‌رسد جمهوری اسلامی در حال حاضر در این زمینه جدی نیست.

روبیو افزود، چین نیز با اقدام‌های جمهوری اسلامی در تنگه هرمز و اعمال عوارض بر عبور کشتی‌ها مخالف است.

به گفته مارکو روبیو وزیر خارجه آمریکا، جمهوری اسلامی با مشکلات اقتصادی جدی روبه‌رو است و شهروندان ایران با تورم بالا و افزایش شدید قیمت مواد غذایی مواجه هستند.
