The office of the Prime Minister of Iraq denied the New York Times report regarding the transfer of the U.S. ceasefire proposal to Iran by Ali Al-Zaydi, the Prime Minister of this country. The media office of the Prime Minister of Iraq stated in a statement on Friday, July 24, that the claim made in the New York Times report is "completely unfounded and has no relation to reality."

In its statement, the office of the Prime Minister of Iraq specifically rejected the report regarding the transfer of this proposal by Mr. Zaydi and did not provide further clarification on the existence or non-existence of a U.S. ceasefire proposal to Iran.

روزنامه نیویورک‌تایمز به نقل از چند مقام ایرانی و عراقی گزارش داد که جمهوری اسلامی ایران پیشنهاد آتش‌بس از سوی دونالد ترامپ، رئیس‌جمهور آمریکا را رد کرده است.
بر اساس این گزارش، پیشنهاد یادشده در جریان سفر علی الزیدی، نخست‌وزیر عراق، به تهران به مقام‌های ایرانی داده شده بود.
آقای زیدی در جریان سفرش به ایران از جمله با مسعود پزشکیان، رئیس‌جمهور و محمدباقر قالیباف، رئیس مجلس شورای اسلامی دیدار کرده بود.
جزئیات این پیشنهاد آتش‌بس مشخص نیست اما مقامات ایرانی به نیویورک‌تایمز گفته‌اند که این تنها پیشنهادِ روی میز است و آن‌ها علاقه‌ای به توافق موقتی که مسئله کنترل تنگهٔ هرمز را حل‌نشده باقی بگذارد، ندارند.
