Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stated in a message on the social media platform X that Ukraine's attack on an Iranian "commercial" vessel in the Caspian Sea is a "clear violation of the United Nations Charter" and declared that this action "cannot go unanswered."

In this message, Araghchi wrote that Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, by attacking an Iranian "commercial" ship that resulted in the death of an Iranian sailor, has attempted to draw Europe into the war "at the behest of Israel." The Islamic Foreign Minister added that in his phone conversations with Josep Borrell, the EU's foreign policy chief, and Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, he emphasized that this action should not go unanswered.

Volodymyr Zelensky had previously announced that Ukrainian forces targeted ships in the Caspian Sea during long-range operations, which he claimed were being used to transport military cargo related to Iran.

عباس عراقچی، وزیر امور خارجه جمهوری اسلامی ایران با انتشار پیامی در شبکه اجتماعی اکس، حمله اوکراین به یک شناور «تجاری» ایرانی در دریای خزر را «نقض آشکار منشور سازمان ملل متحد» خواند و اعلام کرد این اقدام «نمی‌تواند بی‌پاسخ بماند.»

عراقچی در این پیام نوشت که ولودیمیر زلنسکی، رئیس‌جمهوری اوکراین، با حمله به یک کشتی «تجاری» ایران که به کشته شدن یک ملوان ایرانی انجامید، به گفته او «به خواست اسرائیل» تلاش کرده است اروپا را وارد جنگ کند. وزیر خارجه اسلامی افزود که در گفتگوهای تلفنی خود با کایا کالاس، مسئول سیاست خارجی اتحادیه اروپا و سرگئی لاوروف، وزیر خارجه روسیه، تاکید کرده است که این اقدام نباید بدون پاسخ باقی بماند.

ولودیمیر زلنسکی پیش‌تر اعلام کرده بود که نیروهای اوکراینی در عملیات‌های دوربرد در دریای خزر، کشتی‌هایی را هدف قرار داده‌اند که به گفته او برای انتقال محموله‌های نظامی مرتبط با ایران مورد استفاده قرار می‌گرفتند.
