Kazem Gharibabadi, the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, announced on Tuesday that Tehran has rejected Oman’s proposal for an equal division of shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz and, in return, has presented a temporary plan to reopen this waterway to Muscat.

Gharibabadi stated in an interview with Iranian state television that Oman had suggested designing the shipping route so that 50% would be under Iran's control and the other 50% under Oman's control, but the Islamic Republic deemed this plan insufficient. He said, "We said this issue does not alleviate Iran's concerns."

According to the Deputy Foreign Minister, Tehran has proposed a temporary plan under which the movement of ships would take place in a route from Iran's territorial waters, with part of the round trip also located in Iranian waters.

Gharibabadi also emphasized that the policy of the Islamic Republic is that the Strait of Hormuz "should never return to the pre-war status" and warned that any European warship that, according to him, approaches the Strait of Hormuz will be a "legitimate target" for the Islamic Republic.

He added that Oman had also suggested sending a country to clear mines from the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz, but Tehran has opposed this request as well.

کاظم غریب‌آبادی، معاون وزیر امور خارجه جمهوری اسلامی، روز سه‌شنبه اعلام کرد تهران پیشنهاد عمان برای تقسیم برابر مسیرهای عبور و مرور در تنگه هرمز را نپذیرفته و در مقابل، طرحی موقت برای بازگشایی این آبراه به مسقط ارایه کرده است.

غریب‌آبادی در گفت‌وگو با تلویزیون حکومتی ایران گفت عمان پیشنهاد داده بود مسیر کشتیرانی به گونه‌ای طراحی شود که ۵۰ درصد آن در اختیار ایران و ۵۰ درصد دیگر در اختیار عمان باشد، اما جمهوری اسلامی این طرح را ناکافی دانسته است.
او گفت: «ما گفتیم این موضوع رفع‌کننده نگرانی‌های ایران نیست.»

به گفته معاون وزیر خارجه، تهران در مقابل، طرحی موقت پیشنهاد کرده که بر اساس آن تردد کشتی‌ها در یک مسیر از آب‌های سرزمینی ایران انجام شود و بخشی از مسیر رفت و برگشت نیز در آب‌های ایران قرار گیرد.

غریب‌آبادی همچنین تاکید کرد سیاست جمهوری اسلامی این است که تنگه هرمز «هیچ‌گاه به وضعیت پیش از جنگ بازنگردد» و هشدار داد هر ناو اروپایی که به گفته او به تنگه هرمز نزدیک شود، «هدف مشروع» جمهوری اسلامی خواهد بود.

او افزود عمان همچنین پیشنهاد کرده بود کشوری برای مین‌زدایی از بخش جنوبی تنگه هرمز اعزام شود، اما تهران با این درخواست نیز مخالفت کرده است.
