The memorial service for Lindsey Graham, the Republican senator who passed away on July 11 at the age of 71, took place in the U.S. Capitol.
In addition to Mr. Graham's family, hundreds of American lawmakers attended the ceremony.
Some world leaders also traveled to the U.S. capital to participate in this event.

Senator Graham was from South Carolina and had been elected to the U.S. Senate four times. In the early years of his political career, he was a staunch critic of Donald Trump, the President of the United States, but later became one of his loyal allies in Congress.
He was a well-known figure in the conservative movement and a fierce opponent of the Islamic Republic of Iran, having spoken at an event with Iranian government opponents in Germany last winter.

مراسم ادای احترام به لیندزی گراهام، سناتور جمهوری‌خواه که ۱۱ ژوئیه در ۷۱ سالگی درگذشت، در ساختمان کنگره آمریکا
به غیر از نزدیکان آقای گراهام، صدها نفر از قانو‌نگذاران آمریکایی در مراسم حضور داشتند.
برخی از رهبران جهان هم برای شرکت در این مراسم به پایتخت آمریکا سفر کرده‌اند.

سناتور گراهام از ایالت کارولینای جنوبی بود که چهار بار به عضویت سنای آمریکا انتخاب شده بود. او در سال‌های ابتدایی فعالیت سیاسی خود از منتقدان سرسخت دونالد ترامپ، رئیس‌جمهور آمریکا، به شمار می‌رفت اما بعدها به یکی از متحدان وفادار او در کنگره بدل شد.
او از چهره‌های شناخته‌شده جریان محافظه‌کار و از مخالفان سرسخت جمهوری اسلامی ایران بود و زمستان گذشته در جمع مخالفان حکومت ایران در آلمان حاضر شده و سخنرانی کرده بود.
