The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced that the country's air defense intercepted and destroyed several drones targeting oil facilities in the Eastern Province of the country.

Turki Al-Maliki, the spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, said on the social media platform X on Tuesday that these drones were launched from Iraqi territory by groups he referred to as "Iran-backed terrorist militias."

He added that Saudi Arabia reserves the legitimate right to defend itself and its vital facilities and will respond to these attacks "at the appropriate time and place."

The Islamic Republic News Agency reports that a "military official" in Iran, in response to the statements of the Saudi Minister of Defense, has "strongly" denied any connection between the Islamic Republic and the projectiles fired from the territory of other countries towards targets in Saudi Arabia.

This unnamed official told the news agency that attributing any actions against U.S. interests in the region to the Islamic Republic of Iran is a "major miscalculation" and stems from "ignorance of the regional situation."

وزارت دفاع عربستان سعودی اعلام کرد پدافند هوایی این کشور چند پهپاد را که تأسیسات نفتی در استان شرقیهٔ این کشور را هدف گرفته بودند، رهگیری و منهدم کرده است.

ترکی المالکی، سخنگوی وزارت دفاع عربستان، روز سه‌شنبه در شبکه اجتماعی ایکس گفت این پهپادها از خاک عراق و به دست گروه‌هایی که او «شبه‌نظامیان تروریستی مورد حمایت ایران» خواند، پرتاب شده بودند.

او افزود عربستان سعودی حق مشروع دفاع از خود و تأسیسات حیاتی‌اش را محفوظ می‌داند و «در زمان و مکان مناسب» به این حملات پاسخ خواهد داد.

این مقام که نام او اعلام نشده است، به این خبرگزاری گفت نسبت دادن هرگونه اقدام علیه منافع آمریکا در منطقه به جمهوری اسلامی ایران، «خطای بزرگ محاسباتی» و ناشی از «کم‌اطلاعی از اوضاع منطقه» است.
