The state television of the Islamic Republic reported that an area in the border strip of Piranshahr in West Azerbaijan Province was targeted by a U.S. airstrike. The report stated: "An area in the border strip of Piranshahr was attacked by the American enemy's airstrike."

Earlier, the Fars news agency quoted an official from West Azerbaijan Province reporting that a missile had hit an uninhabited area, causing no casualties.

The U.S. Central Command has not yet confirmed this attack and has not commented on it. There is also no independent verification of this report.

Piranshahr is located in the west of West Azerbaijan Province, near the border with Iraq. Five days ago, based on a report from the Provincial Crisis Management Organization to the IRNA news agency, this city was also targeted by an airstrike.

تلویزیون دولتی جمهوری اسلامی گزارش داد منطقه‌ای در نوار مرزی پیرانشهر در استان آذربایجان غربی هدف حمله هوایی آمریکا قرار گرفته است. در این گزارش آمده است: «منطقه‌ای در نوار مرزی پیرانشهر مورد حمله هوایی دشمن آمریکایی قرار گرفت.»

پیش از آن، خبرگزاری فارس به نقل از یک مقام استان آذربایجان غربی گزارش داده بود موشکی به منطقه‌ای غیرمسکونی اصابت کرده و تلفاتی بر جای نگذاشته است.

فرماندهی مرکزی آمریکا تاکنون این حمله را تأیید نکرده و درباره آن اظهار نظری نکرده است. تأیید مستقلی نیز برای این گزارش وجود ندارد.

پیرانشهر در غرب استان آذربایجان غربی و در نزدیکی مرز عراق قرار دارد. این شهر پنج روز پیش نیز بر پایه گزارش سازمان مدیریت بحران استان به خبرگزاری ایرنا، هدف حمله هوایی قرار گرفته بود.
