Netanyahu: With the deep rift that has emerged between the people and the regime following the massacre in January, the Iranian government will ultimately fall

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, in response to an ABC host who told him that according to the New York Times report, he had told Trump that Iran's missile capacity would be destroyed within weeks and regime change might occur, said: "That was not my initial assessment, and it is an inaccurate representation of what I said."

My assessment was that we must take action to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Netanyahu stated that he had said we could create conditions for the regime to weaken, but it would be up to the Iranian people to determine their own fate.

Regarding the possibility of regime change in Iran, he said: "I think Iran is weaker than ever and Israel is stronger than ever, but I cannot say that the regime is currently collapsing."

Netanyahu said: "Let me make a prediction; after such a significant rift that has emerged following that massacre (the killings of January 7 and 8, 1404), I believe that the Iranian regime will ultimately fall."

Netanyahu warned that if Iran targets Israel, it would be committing "a very dangerous mistake," and Israel would respond "very severely." He concluded by saying: "My goal is to ensure that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons with this regime. This is something that both President Trump and I agree on, because otherwise the world will be different."

The Israeli Prime Minister emphasized in an exclusive interview with Linsey Davis from ABC News on Wednesday that Donald Trump is the main decision-maker regarding the war with Iran, and he is not trying to convince Trump to continue attacks against Iran.

Netanyahu also expressed doubt about the possibility of reaching a diplomatic solution with the Islamic Republic. He said: "I don't know if this possibility is low or not, but I am pessimistic about Iran's behavior. They always lie, cheat, and buy time. Will this behavior change under sufficient pressure—diplomatic and economic pressure? It can be tried."

He added: "The reality is that we are partners and allies. He is the senior partner; let’s not forget that he is the President of the United States, and I am the smaller partner. But I am the Prime Minister of Israel, and whenever necessary, I will defend my country's interests and security." Netanyahu also appreciated the role of the Trump administration in confronting the "common enemy."

نتانیاهو گفت: بگذارید یک پیش‌بینی کنم؛ پس از چنین شکاف بزرگی که به دنبال آن قتل‌عام (کشتار ۱۸ و ۱۹ دی‌ماه ۱۴۰۴) بین مردم و رژیم ایجاد شده، فکر می‌کنم که رژیم ایران در نهایت سقوط خواهد کرد.

او در پایان گفت: «هدف من این است که مطمئن شوم ایران با این حکومت به سلاح هسته‌ای دست پیدا نمی‌کند. این موضوعی است که من و رئیس‌جمهور ترامپ هر دو بر سر آن توافق داریم، زیرا در آن صورت جهان متفاوتی خواهد بود.»

نخست‌وزیر اسرائیل روز چهارشنبه در گفت‌وگویی اختصاصی با لینزی دیویس از شبکه ای‌بی‌سی نیوز تأکید کرد که دونالد ترامپ تصمیم‌گیرنده اصلی درباره جنگ ایران است و او تلاش نمی‌کند ترامپ را برای ادامه حملات علیه ایران متقاعد کند.

نتانیاهو در عین حال گفت نسبت به امکان دستیابی به راه‌حل دیپلماتیک با جمهوری اسلامی تردید دارد.
او گفت: «نمی‌دانم این احتمال کم است یا نه، اما نسبت به شیوه عمل ایران بدبینم. آن‌ها همیشه دروغ می‌گویند، تقلب می‌کنند و زمان می‌خرند. آیا تحت فشار کافی ــ فشار دیپلماتیک و اقتصادی ــ ممکن است این رفتار تغییر کند؟ می‌توان امتحان کرد.»

او افزود: «واقعیت این است که ما شریک و متحد هستیم. او شریک ارشد است؛ فراموش نکنیم که او رئیس‌جمهور ایالات متحده آمریکاست و من شریک کوچک‌تر هستم. اما من نخست‌وزیر اسرائیل هستم و هر زمان لازم باشد از منافع و امنیت کشورم دفاع می‌کنم.»
نتانیاهو همچنین از نقش دولت ترامپ در مقابله با «دشمن مشترک» قدردانی کرد.
