The Chinese Ministry of Defense has denied reports about its plans to deliver hundreds of portable air defense systems to Iran, calling them "completely incorrect and false."
Jiang Bin, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Defense, responded to a question about this report on Thursday, stating that the claims made are not true. The Chinese Foreign Ministry had previously described the report regarding this deal as "baseless."
On Wednesday, Reuters reported, citing three informed sources, that Iran is set to receive the first shipment of 300 to 400 portable air defense systems made in China within a few weeks. According to these sources, the contract in question includes KW-12 and FN-16 missiles, with an estimated value between $60 to $70 million.
The report states that the contract was signed with a company based in Hong Kong, which is said to have acted as an intermediary between Iran and the Chinese supplier. Reuters' sources indicated that the initial shipments were to be sent from the city of Urumqi in western China and transported to Iran via Pakistan.

جیانگ بین، سخنگوی وزارت دفاع چین، روز پنجشنبه در پاسخ به پرسشی درباره این گزارش گفت که ادعای مطرحشده صحت ندارد. وزارت خارجه چین نیز پیشتر گزارش مربوط به این معامله را «بیاساس» توصیف کرده بود.
رویترز روز چهارشنبه به نقل از سه منبع آگاه گزارش داد که ایران قرار است ظرف چند هفته نخستین محموله از مجموع ۳۰۰ تا ۴۰۰ سامانه پدافند هوایی قابلحمل ساخت چین را دریافت کند. به گفته این منابع، قرارداد مورد نظر شامل موشکهای کیودبلیو-۱۲ و افان-۱۶ است و ارزش آن بین ۶۰ تا ۷۰ میلیون دلار برآورد میشود.
بر اساس این گزارش، قرارداد با یک شرکت مستقر در هنگکنگ امضا شده که گفته میشود میان ایران و تأمینکننده چینی نقش واسطه را ایفا کرده است. منابع رویترز گفتند که قرار بود محمولههای اولیه از شهر ارومچی در غرب چین ارسال و از مسیر پاکستان به ایران منتقل شود.
