On Thursday, Saudi Arabia announced a plan to form an international coalition for maritime defense aimed at protecting shipping and energy transit routes in the Red Sea.
The Saudi Ministry of Defense stated that representatives from 43 countries and the European Union participated in a meeting regarding this plan. According to this proposal, Saudi Arabia will act as the founding country and leader of the coalition, with its headquarters also located in the country.
According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense, this coalition is being formed to enhance maritime security, maintain freedom of navigation, ensure the security of trade and energy transit routes, and protect shared maritime interests in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Gulf of Aden.
This plan comes after attacks by Iran-backed Houthis on ships have disrupted one of the world's most important trade routes.

عربستان سعودی روز پنجشنبه از طرح تشکیل یک ائتلاف بینالمللی برای دفاع دریایی با هدف حفاظت از کشتیرانی و مسیرهای انتقال انرژی در دریای سرخ خبر داد.
وزارت دفاع عربستان اعلام کرد نمایندگان ۴۳ کشور و اتحادیه اروپا در نشستی درباره این طرح شرکت کردند. بر اساس این پیشنهاد، عربستان بهعنوان کشور بنیانگذار و رهبر ائتلاف عمل خواهد کرد و مقر آن نیز در این کشور خواهد بود.
به گفته وزارت دفاع عربستان، این ائتلاف با هدف تقویت امنیت دریایی، حفظ آزادی کشتیرانی، تأمین امنیت مسیرهای تجارت و انتقال انرژی و حفاظت از منافع مشترک دریایی در تنگه بابالمندب و خلیج عدن تشکیل میشود.
این طرح پس از آن مطرح شده که حملات حوثیهای مورد حمایت ایران به کشتیها، یکی از مهمترین مسیرهای تجاری جهان را با اختلال روبهرو کرده است.
