Italy has temporarily suspended the free movement system in the Schengen area with Spain following the migrant crisis in Ceuta. This action was taken after Spanish officials announced on Friday that over 60,000 people had entered Ceuta via land and sea within 24 hours. According to Spanish authorities, after this wave of migrant arrivals, about 37,500 people voluntarily returned to Morocco.

During the attempts to cross the border, at least 57 people lost their lives; some drowned, while others died in the chaos while crossing border obstacles.

Pedro Sánchez, the Prime Minister of Spain, described this event as a "violation of Spain's territorial sovereignty" and stated that the process of returning undocumented migrants would be expedited in cooperation with Morocco.

The European Union allows member countries to temporarily re-establish control over internal borders in the Schengen area under exceptional circumstances.

ایتالیا پس از بحران مهاجران در سبته، اجرای نظام تردد آزاد در منطقه شنگن با اسپانیا را به‌طور موقت تعلیق کرد.
