Clashes between supporters of the Islamic Republic and followers of Sadiq Shirazi, a critic of the Islamic Republic, during the Arbaeen ceremony in Karbala resulted in the arrest of 140 people and injuries to 54 others.

The Iraqi television network "Ashaa'ir," a media outlet close to "Ayatollah Sadiq Shirazi," released a video of these clashes on the morning of Monday, August 12.
According to this media, a group gathered in front of Ayatollah Sadiq Shirazi's office in Karbala holding images of Ali and Mojtaba Khamenei and flags reading "Ya Latharat al-Hussein" and "Ya Latharat al-Khamenei," chanting slogans against him.
This media claims that supporters of Ali Khamenei, the former leader of the Islamic Republic, and his son Mojtaba Khamenei shouted these slogans while passing by Shirazi's office, which provoked a reaction from the followers and disciples of this religious authority.

According to social media users, the clashes initially stopped with the intervention of the Iraqi police, but tensions and confrontations later occurred between supporters of the Islamic Republic and Iraqi security forces, with the Iraqi police ultimately using force to end the situation.
Reports indicate that during the clashes in front of the tent associated with Ayatollah Sadiq Shirazi, 140 people were arrested and 54 were injured. This figure has not yet been independently verified.

Additionally, some reports claim that Hossein Sotoudeh, a government-affiliated eulogist, was among the attendees at this gathering and attempted to link the event to political issues.
"Ayatollah Sadiq Shirazi" is a critic of the theory of Velayat-e Faqih, and media outlets of the Islamic Republic refer to him and his associated movement as "English Shiism." He considers Velayat-e Faqih to be limited to judicial matters and has opposed new interpretations of Islam and the Shia faith.

درگیری میان حامیان جمهوری اسلامی و مقلدان صادق شیرازی، از مراجع تقلید منتقد جمهوری اسلامی، در جریان مراسم اربعین در کربلا به بازداشت ۱۴۰ نفر و مجروح شدن ۵۴ نفر انجامید.

شبکه تلویزیونی «اشعائر» عراق، رسانه نزدیک به "آیت‌الله صادق شیرازی"، صبح دوشنبه ۱۲ مرداد ویدیویی از این درگیری منتشر کرد.
بر اساس گزارش این رسانه، گروهی با در دست داشتن تصاویر علی و مجتبی خامنه‌ای و پرچم‌های «یا لثارات الحسین» و «یا لثارات الخامنه‌ای» مقابل دفتر آیت‌الله صادق شیرازی در کربلا تجمع کردند و علیه او شعار سر دادند.
این رسانه می‌گوید حامیان علی خامنه‌ای، رهبر پیشین جمهوری اسلامی، و فرزندش مجتبی خامنه‌ای هنگام عبور از مقابل دفتر صادق شیرازی این شعارها را سر دادند که با واکنش هواداران و مقلدان این مرجع تقلید روبه‌رو شد.

به گفته کاربران شبکه‌های اجتماعی، این درگیری ابتدا با مداخله پلیس عراق متوقف شد، اما در ادامه میان حامیان جمهوری اسلامی و نیروهای امنیتی عراق نیز تنش و درگیری رخ داد و پلیس عراق در نهایت با استفاده از قوه قهریه به آن پایان داد.
بر اساس گزارش‌های منتشر شده، در جریان درگیری مقابل موکب منتسب به آیت‌الله صادق شیرازی، ۱۴۰ نفر بازداشت و ۵۴ نفر مجروح شدند. این آمار تاکنون به‌طور مستقل تأیید نشده است.

همچنین در برخی گزارش‌ها ادعا شده است که حسین ستوده، مداح حکومتی، از چهره‌های حاضر در این تجمع بوده و تلاش داشته این مراسم را به موضوعات سیاسی پیوند بزند.
"آیت‌الله صادق شیرازی" از منتقدان نظریه ولایت فقیه است و رسانه‌های جمهوری اسلامی او و جریان منتسب به وی را با عنوان «شیعه انگلیسی» معرفی می‌کنند. او ولایت فقیه را محدود به امر قضاوت می‌داند و با تفسیرهای جدید از اسلام و مذهب تشیع مخالفت کرده است.
