On Wednesday, August 14, the Israeli army launched new attacks on southern Lebanon, citing "a blatant violation of the ceasefire" by the Hezbollah group. These attacks, which were accompanied by the issuance of the first evacuation warning after weeks for the residents of the town of "Mansouri," left at least one dead and 11 injured.

These new confrontations occurred while Lebanese and Israeli representatives were engaged in talks mediated by the United States in Rome to end the hostilities and facilitate a phased withdrawal of Israel from southern Lebanon.

A source familiar with the negotiations told AFP that the Israeli delegation requested to end the session three hours earlier than scheduled. According to this source, Yahyael Leiter, Israel's ambassador to the U.S. and head of the negotiating team, cited the leak of "misleading information" from the Lebanese side as the reason for this decision.

However, it is expected that these negotiations will continue on Thursday, in their third and final day.

ارتش اسرائیل روز چهارشنبه ۱۴ مرداد، حملات جدیدی را به جنوب لبنان آغاز کرد و دلیل آن را «نقض آشکار آتش‌بس» از سوی گروه حزب‌الله دانست. این حملات که با صدور نخستین هشدار تخلیه پس از هفته‌ها برای ساکنان شهرک «منصوری» همراه بود، دست‌کم یک کشته و ۱۱ زخمی بر جا گذاشت.

این رویارویی‌های جدید در حالی رخ داد که نمایندگان لبنان و اسرائیل با میانجی‌گری آمریکا در رم مشغول گفتگو برای پایان دادن به درگیری‌ها و عقب‌نشینی مرحله‌ای اسرائیل از جنوب لبنان بودند.

یک منبع آگاه از روند مذاکرات به خبرگزاری فرانسه گفت هیات اسرائیلی، سه ساعت زودتر از موعد مقرر خواستار پایان جلسه شد. به گفته این منبع، یحیئل لایتر، سفیر اسرائیل در آمریکا و رئیس هیات مذاکره این کشور، درز «اطلاعات گمراه‌کننده» از سوی طرف لبنانی را علت این تصمیم عنوان کرده است.

با این حال، انتظار می‌رود این مذاکرات روز پنجشنبه در سومین و آخرین روز خود استمرار یابد.
