به گفته سخنگوی قوه قضاییه، با توجه به روحانی‌بودن محمدباقر خرازی، رسیدگی به اتهامات احتمالی او در صلاحیت دادگاه ویژه روحانیت است. او همچنین گفت خرازی «می‌تواند اتهامات متعدد امنیتی» داشته باشد و در صورت حاضر نشدن در دادگاه، برای او حکم جلب صادر خواهد شد.

روحانی بدون منصب حکومتی، دبیرکل تشکلی به نام «حزب‌الله ایران» که وزن و جایگاه واقعی آن در فضای سیاست ایران چندان روشن نیست، و عضوی از خانواده‌ای که با حوزه علمیه، دستگاه دیپلماسی و خاندان خامنه‌ای پیوند دارد.
