Yossi Cohen, the former head of Mossad, stated that agents from this organization had visited the Fordow uranium enrichment facilities several times in the past to gather more information about this nuclear center.

According to the Times of Israel, Cohen said on Tuesday, August 20, 1405 (August 10, 2026), at the "Jalil Forum" in Safed: "We have visited the Fordow nuclear site multiple times to understand this site." He did not provide further details about the timing of these visits or which individuals from Mossad were present during them.

He also commented on the U.S. attack on Fordow, saying: "The bombing of it by the Americans was the realization of all my dreams." The Fordow facility, along with the nuclear centers in Isfahan and Natanz, was severely damaged during the 12-day war between Israel and Iran in June 2025.

Previous reports indicated that about 440 kilograms of highly enriched uranium stored at this facility were buried under the rubble. However, Israel believes that Iran transferred part of this uranium stockpile to the "Koh-e Peak-X" site after the war.

Cohen also stated that uranium enriched to 60 percent is still far from being suitable for bomb-making. This statement contrasts with the assessments of some nuclear experts. David Albright, a nuclear expert, previously stated that Iran's 60 percent enriched uranium could be enriched to the level required for nuclear weapons within weeks or even days if Tehran decides to build a weapon.

Cohen had previously spoken publicly about Mossad's activities against Iran's nuclear program. Just days after his term as head of Mossad ended in 2021, he provided details of the organization's operations against Iran in a rare interview with Israeli television.

In that interview, he discussed the explosion at the underground centrifuge facilities in Natanz and provided details about the 2018 Mossad operation to steal Iran's nuclear archive from a warehouse in Tehran. Cohen also mentioned that Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, a senior Iranian nuclear scientist who was later assassinated, had been on Mossad's target list for years.

In the documentary program "Ouda," hosted by Ilana Dayan on Channel 12 in Israel, Cohen also stated that he has close familiarity with various Iranian nuclear facilities. He mentioned that if given the opportunity, he would take Dayan to the underground section of Natanz, where, according to him, Iran's centrifuges were operating.

یوسی کوهن، مدیر پیشین موساد، گفت ماموران این سازمان در گذشته چندین بار از تاسیسات غنی‌سازی اورانیوم فردو بازدید کرده بودند تا اطلاعات بیشتری درباره این مرکز هسته‌ای به‌دست آورند.

به گزارش تایمز اسراییل، کوهن، روز سه‌شنبه ۲۰مرداد ۱۴۰۵، در نشست «مجمع جلیل» در شهر صفد، گفت: «ما بارها از سایت هسته‌ای فردو بازدید کردیم تا این سایت را درک کنیم.» او درباره زمان این بازدیدها و این‌که چه افرادی از سوی موساد در این بازدیدها حضور داشتند، توضیح بیشتری نداد.

او همچنین درباره حمله آمریکا به فردو گفت: «بمباران آن توسط آمریکایی‌ها تحقق همه رویاهای من بود.»
تاسیسات فردو، همراه با مراکز هسته‌ای اصفهان و نطنز، در جریان جنگ ۱۲روزه اسراییل و ایران در ژوئن ۲۰۲۵ به‌شدت آسیب دید.

گزارش‌های پیشین حاکی از آن بود که حدود ۴۴۰ کیلوگرم اورانیوم با غنای بالا که در این تاسیسات نگهداری می‌شد، زیر آوار مدفون شده است. با این حال، اسراییل بر این باور است که ایران پس از جنگ بخشی از این ذخیره اورانیوم را به سایت «کوه پیک‌اکس» منتقل کرده است.

کوهن همچنین گفت اورانیوم غنی‌شده تا سطح ۶۰ درصد همچنان فاصله زیادی با ساخت بمب دارد. این سخنان با ارزیابی برخی کارشناسان هسته‌ای تفاوت دارد. دیوید آلبرایت، کارشناس حوزه هسته‌ای، پیش‌تر گفته است اورانیوم ۶۰درصدی ایران می‌تواند در صورت تصمیم تهران برای ساخت سلاح، ظرف چند هفته یا حتی چند روز تا سطح مورد نیاز برای تولید جنگ‌افزار هسته‌ای غنی شود.

کوهن پیش از این نیز به‌طور علنی درباره فعالیت‌های موساد علیه برنامه هسته‌ای ایران صحبت کرده بود. او چند روز پس از پایان دوره ریاستش بر موساد در سال ۲۰۲۱، در مصاحبه‌ای کم‌سابقه با تلویزیون اسراییل، جزئیاتی از عملیات این سازمان علیه ایران را بیان کرد.

او در آن مصاحبه از انفجار در تاسیسات زیرزمینی سانتریفیوژهای نطنز سخن گفت و توضیحاتی درباره عملیات سال ۲۰۱۸ موساد برای سرقت آرشیو هسته‌ای ایران از یک انبار در تهران ارایه کرد. کوهن همچنین گفت محسن فخری‌زاده، دانشمند ارشد هسته‌ای ایران که بعدتر ترور شد، سال‌ها در فهرست اهداف موساد قرار داشته است.

کوهن در برنامه مستند «اوودا» با اجرای ایلانا دایان در شبکه ۱۲ اسراییل نیز گفت که با تاسیسات مختلف هسته‌ای ایران آشنایی نزدیکی دارد. او در این برنامه گفت اگر فرصت پیدا کند، دایان را به بخش زیرزمینی نطنز خواهد برد؛ جایی که به گفته او سانتریفیوژهای ایران در آن فعالیت می‌کردند.
