An American official told the Wall Street Journal that Israel had provided the Trump administration with information regarding a threat to the presidential aircraft; information that included the possibility of using shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles to target Air Force One.

According to him, some senior officials in the administration, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, remained on Air Force One.

He stated that it is still unclear how serious the threat was, but at that time, U.S. Secret Service agents believed extraordinary measures needed to be taken to protect the President. Trump, on Tuesday night after returning from an event in Ohio, made his first public comments on the matter to reporters, saying: "This decision is entirely up to the Secret Service. I just follow what they want. For security reasons, they wanted me to travel on a different flight and aircraft."

In response to the question of why the Secret Service requested the use of another aircraft, he said: "I receive a lot of threats."

Donald Trump told reporters: "I think the plane I actually flew on was more at risk. I think the danger for that plane was greater because I believe the likelihood of it being targeted was higher."

This trip took place about a month ago. According to reports from U.S. media, a serious threat from Iran to shoot missiles at Donald Trump's aircraft had been identified, and he secretly changed his plane while returning from Turkey, transferring to another aircraft with a food and catering truck and returning to the U.S. with it.

یک مقام آمریکایی به وال استریت ژورنال گفت اسرائیل اطلاعات مربوط به تهدید هواپیمای ویژه ریاست جمهوری را در اختیار دولت ترامپ قرار داده بود؛ اطلاعاتی که شامل احتمال استفاده از موشک‌های دوش‌پرتاب زمین به هوا برای هدف قرار دادن ایر فورس وان می‌شد.

به گفته او، برخی از مقام‌های ارشد دولت، از جمله مارکو روبیو وزیر خارجه آمریکا، در ایر فورس وان باقی ماندند.

او گفت هنوز مشخص نیست تهدید مطرح‌شده تا چه اندازه جدی بوده است، اما مأموران سرویس مخفی آمریکا در آن زمان معتقد بودند برای حفاظت از رئیس‌جمهوری باید تدابیر فوق‌العاده‌ای اتخاذ شود.
ترامپ سه‌شنبه شب پس از بازگشت از مراسمی در اوهایو، در نخستین اظهارنظر علنی خود درباره این ماجرا به خبرنگاران گفت: «این تصمیم کاملا به سرویس مخفی مربوط می‌شود. من فقط از آنچه آنها می‌خواهند پیروی می‌کنم. برای مسائل امنیتی می‌خواستند با پرواز و هواپیمای دیگری سفر کنم.»
او در پاسخ به این پرسش که چرا سرویس مخفی خواستار استفاده از هواپیمای دیگر شده بود، گفت: «من تهدیدهای زیادی دریافت می‌کنم.»

بنابر گزارش رسانه‌های آمریکا، تهدید جدی ایران برای شلیک موشک به هواپیمای دونالد ترامپ شناسایی شده بود و او هنگام بازگشت از ترکیه مخفیانه هواپیمایش را عوض کرد و با کامیون حمل غذا و وسایل پذیرایی به یک هواپیمای دیگر منتقل و با آن به آمریکا بازگشت.
