A Chinese wide-body passenger aircraft is set to make its first international commercial flight on Wednesday, August 12.
This new jet, introduced as China's response to large passenger planes from Boeing and Airbus, is named COMAC C-919.
This aircraft marks China's first attempt to enter this lucrative industry, which has so far been dominated by Western aviation giants.
The flight by China Airlines, Air China, will depart Beijing for Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, on Wednesday morning. This round-trip flight will be conducted daily.
Some analysts believe it may take years for Chinese jets to become serious competitors to well-known companies like Airbus and Boeing.
