The head of government in Iran on Saturday, August 15, described the recent price increases and their impact on citizens' livelihoods as "natural," attributing them to the economic blockade and U.S. oil sanctions.

Masoud Pezeshkian, in a meeting with the secretaries-general of parties and political activists, said: "Previously, imported products arrived by ship; now they go through many routes to enter the country, and the cost price of goods rises."

He further added: "Our income has also decreased; I used to sell oil, but now we can't sell it."

The blockage of the Strait of Hormuz, in addition to increasing energy prices globally, has put pressure on the Iranian economy and intensified inflation. Reports indicate that with the implementation of the maritime blockade, Iran's oil exports through Khark Island have significantly decreased. About 90% of Iran's oil exports occur through this island.

رئیس دولت در ایران روز شنبه ۲۴ مرداد گرانی‌های اخیر و تأثیر آن بر معیشت شهروندان را «طبیعی» خواند و محاصره اقتصادی و تحریم‌های نفتی آمریکا را از دلایل آن اعلام کرد.

مسعود پزشکیان در نشست با دبیران کل احزاب و فعالان سیاسی گفت: «قبلا محصولات وارداتی با کشتی وارد می‌شد؛ اکنون کلی مسیر عبور می‌کند تا وارد کشور ‌شود و قیمت تمام‌شده کالا بالا می‌رود.»

او در ادامه افزود: «درآمد ما هم کم شده، قبلا نفت می‌فروختم، الان نمی‌توانیم بفروشیم.»

مسدود ماندن تنگه هرمز علاوه بر افزایش قیمت انرژی در جهان، موجب فشار بر اقتصاد ایران و تشدید تورم شده است.
گزارش‌ها حاکی است که با اجرای محاصرهٔ دریایی صادرات نفت ایران از طریق جزیره خارک به‌شدت کاهش یافته است. حدود ۹۰ درصد صادرات نفت ایران از طریق این جزیره صورت می‌گیرد.
