"Melika Hemmatzadeh," a 13-year-old girl from the village of Desk in Nikshahr County, died in Nikshahr Hospital in Sistan and Baluchestan Province after being stung by a scorpion. According to her father, the necessary facilities and medication for her treatment were not available.
Melika's father recounted: "Only one female doctor came and said she would give her an IV, and after the IV was finished, take her to the more equipped Nikshahr Hospital." Despite her condition, the treatment center in Bent did not have an ambulance, and the family traveled the 75-kilometer distance to Nikshahr in their personal vehicle, arriving at the hospital at 3:30 PM.
Saeed Hemmatzadeh mentioned that in the following hours, Nikshahr Hospital also connected his daughter to an IV, but did not have any blood platelets available.
Chabahar Hospital also lacked platelets, and it was decided to obtain them from Iranshahr: they said it would take one or two hours. One or two hours turned into five hours, but the platelets did not reach us. We waited until 10 PM, but aside from that IV, no other medical services were provided.
Melika Hemmatzadeh ultimately suffered a seizure in the middle of the night due to the effects of the scorpion venom and passed away.

«ملیکا همتزاده»، دختر ۱۳ ساله اهل روستای دسک شهرستان نیکشهر، پس از عقربگزیدگی و در شرایطی که به گفته پدرش امکانات و داروی مورد نیاز برای درمان او در دسترس نبود، در بیمارستان نیکشهر استان سیستان و بلوچستان جان باخت.
پدر ملیکا روایت کرده است: «فقط یک خانم دکتر آمد و گفت سرم میزنم و پس از تمام شدن سرم، او را به بیمارستان نیکشهر که مجهزتر است ببرید.»
با وجود وضعیت او، مرکز درمانی بنت آمبولانس نداشت و خانواده با خودروی شخصی مسیر ۷۵ کیلومتری تا نیکشهر را طی کردند و ساعت ۳:۳۰ عصر به بیمارستان رسیدند.
سعید همتزاده درباره ساعات بعدی گفته است بیمارستان نیکشهر نیز به دخترش سرم وصل کرد، اما پلاکت خون در اختیار نداشت.
بیمارستان چابهار نیز پلاکت نداشت و قرار شد آن را از ایرانشهر تهیه کنند: گفتند یکی دو ساعت طول میکشد. یکی دو ساعت شد پنج ساعت اما پلاکت به دست ما نرسید. تا ساعت ۱۰ شب منتظر ماندیم، اما به جز همان سرم، هیچ خدمات درمانی دیگری ارائه نشد.
ملیکا همتزاده سرانجام در اواسط شب بر اثر تاثیر سم عقرب دچار تشنج شد و جان باخت.
