Mohsen Rezaei, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, says that from the perspective of the Iranian government, any country that participates with the United States in imposing further economic restrictions against Iran is considered an "enemy" and warned that in such cases, these countries will be targeted for attack.

In a television interview broadcast on Saturday evening, August 31, on state television, Mohsen Rezaei also threatened that if the new U.S. plan against Iran for imposing further economic restrictions is implemented, the Islamic Republic will not allow "a single drop of oil to leave not only the Strait of Hormuz but the entire Persian Gulf."

These statements are the latest reaction from Tehran officials to the sanctions that the U.S. government is set to announce details of next Monday, which U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Basset has already described as "the toughest sanctions in history" against Iran.

محسن رضایی در یک گفت‌وگو تلویزیونی که شامگاه شنبه ۳۱ مرداد از صداوسیما پخش شد، همچنین تهدید کرد اگر طرح جدید آمریکا علیه ایران برای ایجاد محدودیت اقتصادی بیشتر اعمال شود، جمهوری اسلامی اجازه نخواهد داد «یک قطره نفت نه تنها از تنگه هرمز که از کل خلیج فارس» خارج شود.

این اظهارات تازه‌ترین واکنش مقامات تهران به تحریم‌هایی است که دولت آمریکا قرار است روز دوشنبه آتی جزئیات آن را اعلام کند و اسکات بسنت، وزیر خزانه‌داری آمریکا، پیشاپیش آن را «سخت‌ترین تحریم‌های تاریخ» علیه ایران خوانده است.
