John Healy, the UK Treasury Secretary, announced that the government of this country will continue to exert economic pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran alongside the United States and other partners, and will take action to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and counter Iran's "dangerous activities."

Healy stated in a statement on August 25, 2026, that the UK government has imposed over 240 sanctions against Iran since taking office; sanctions that, according to him, have been implemented in response to actions that threaten the security of the people and the UK.

The UK Treasury Secretary added that London is determined to prevent the Islamic Republic from using the global economy or the UK financial system to advance its nuclear program and destabilizing activities.

He also supported the efforts of the United States to achieve a diplomatic solution and stated that the UK welcomes increased pressure on the Islamic Republic, including through the US's "economic exclusion" operations.

Healy emphasized that the UK will continue to work with its partners to protect its interests and will take necessary actions to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and counter what has been described as Iran's dangerous activities in the region.

جان هیلی، وزیر خزانه‌داری بریتانیا، اعلام کرد دولت این کشور در کنار آمریکا و دیگر شرکای خود به اعمال فشار اقتصادی بر جمهوری اسلامی ایران ادامه خواهد داد و برای بازگشایی تنگه هرمز و مقابله با «فعالیت‌های خطرناک ایران»، اقدام خواهد کرد.

هیلی، روز سوم شهریور ۱۴۰۵، در بیانیه‌ای گفت دولت بریتانیا از زمان آغاز به کار خود تاکنون بیش از ۲۴۰ تحریم علیه ایران وضع کرده است؛ تحریم‌هایی که به گفته او در واکنش به اقداماتی اعمال شده‌اند که امنیت مردم و بریتانیا را تهدید می‌کنند.

وزیر خزانه‌داری بریتانیا افزود لندن مصمم است مانع از آن شود که جمهوری اسلامی از اقتصاد جهانی یا نظام مالی بریتانیا برای پیشبرد برنامه هسته‌ای و فعالیت‌های بی‌ثبات‌کننده خود استفاده کند.

او همچنین از تلاش‌های آمریکا برای دستیابی به راه‌حل دیپلماتیک حمایت کرد و گفت بریتانیا از افزایش فشار بر جمهوری اسلامی، از جمله در قالب عملیات «طرد اقتصادی» آمریکا، استقبال می‌کند.

هیلی تاکید کرد بریتانیا به همکاری با شرکای خود برای حفاظت از منافعش ادامه خواهد داد و برای بازگشایی تنگه هرمز و مقابله با آنچه فعالیت‌های خطرناک ایران در منطقه خوانده شده، اقدامات لازم را انجام خواهد داد.

وزیر خزانه‌داری بریتانیا از جمهوری اسلامی خواست فعالیت‌های بی‌ثبات‌کننده خود در منطقه، از جمله در تنگه هرمز، را متوقف کند و وارد گفت‌وگوهای دیپلماتیک شود.
