Scott Basset, the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, criticized the financial policies of the Islamic Republic in a message on social media platform X, calling for the country's financial resources to be allocated to the people of Iran.

Basset wrote in his message: "While the people of Iran struggle with economic hardships to meet their basic needs, the corrupt government continues to waste vast amounts of money abroad."

The U.S. Treasury Secretary further added: "The Iranian government should spend this money on its own people instead of injecting billions of dollars into its terrorist proxy groups."

These remarks come amid an intensified campaign of U.S. financial sanctions aimed at limiting the Iranian government's access to foreign currency resources.

اسکات بسنت، وزیر خزانه‌داری ایالات متحده، با انتشار پیامی در شبکه اجتماعی ایکس، با انتقاد از سیاست‌های مالی جمهوری اسلامی، خواستار اختصاص منابع مالی کشور به مردم ایران شد.

بسنت در پیام خود نوشت: «در حالی که مردم ایران برای تامین نیازهای اولیه خود با مشکلات معیشتی دست‌وپنجه نرم می‌کنند، حکومت فاسد همچنان مبالغ هنگفتی را در خارج از کشور هدر می‌دهد.»

وزیر خزانه‌داری آمریکا در ادامه افزود: «حکومت ایران به جای تزریق میلیاردها دلار به گروه‌های نیابتی تروریستی خود، باید این پول را صرف مردم کشورش کند.»

این اظهارات هم‌زمان با تشدید کارزار تحریم‌های مالی ایالات متحده برای محدود کردن دسترسی حکومت ایران به منابع ارز خارجی مطرح می‌شود.
