The Executive Assistant to the President of Iran confirmed that the Islamic Republic's government cannot import gasoline due to the U.S. maritime blockade.

According to the IRNA news agency, Mohammad Jafar Qaimpanah stated on Wednesday evening, September 4, that changes in the prices of energy carriers, including gasoline and diesel, are necessary, explaining, "The distribution of gasoline is not fair, and continuing down this path is impossible. Moreover, gasoline production is insufficient, and we cannot import gasoline due to the U.S. maritime blockade."

This Iranian government official also mentioned that it is unclear how much and when these changes will take place.

In recent days, alongside increasing comments from Islamic Republic officials about the necessity of raising gasoline prices, various reports have emerged about the closure of some fuel stations in Tehran and the formation of long queues in front of them. According to the latest announced statistics, daily gasoline production in the country is about 115 million liters, while consumption is around 129 million liters. Thus, daily production is approximately 14 million liters less than consumption.

معاون اجرایی رئیس‌جمهور ایران تأیید کرد که دولت جمهوری اسلامی به‌دلیل محاصرهٔ دریایی آمریکا نمی‌تواند بنزین وارد کند.

به گزارش خبرگزاری ایرنا، محمدجعفر قائم‌پناه، شامگاه چهارشنبه چهارم شهریور، ایجاد تغییرات در قیمت حامل‌های انرژی شامل بنزین و گازوئیل را لازم خواند، و در توضیح دلیل آن گفت: «توزیع بنزین عادلانه نیست و تداوم این مسیر غیرممکن است. ضمن این‌که تولید بنزین کفایت نمی‌کند و با محاصرهٔ دریایی آمریکا نمی‌توانیم بنزین وارد کنیم.»

این مقام دولت ایران در عین حال گفت مشخص نیست این تغییرات به چه میزان و چه زمانی انجام می‌شود.

در روزهای اخیر، هم‌زمان با افزایش اظهارنظرهای مقام‌های جمهوری اسلامی دربارهٔ لزوم افزایش قیمت بنزین، گزارش‌های مختلفی از تعطیلی برخی جایگاه‌های عرضهٔ سوخت در تهران و تشکیل صف‌های طولانی مقابل آن‌ها منتشر شده است.
بر اساس آخرین آمار اعلام‌شده، تولید روزانهٔ بنزین در کشور حدود ۱۱۵ میلیون لیتر و مصرف آن حدود ۱۲۹ میلیون لیتر است. به این ترتیب، میزان تولید روزانه روزانه حدود ۱۴ میلیون لیتر کمتر از میزان مصرف است.
