On Tuesday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced in a statement broadcasted by the state television of the Islamic Republic that a giant oil tanker had collided with two naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz, stating that the tanker caught fire and came to a complete stop.

In its statement, the IRGC claimed that the tanker intended to "illegally" pass through the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz.

Following the war between the U.S. and Israel with Iran, the IRGC asserts that the passage of ships through the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz, near the shores of Oman, is illegal. This claim by Iran does not align with international law.

The IRGC's naval statement did not mention the name of the tanker, its crew, ownership, or the time of the incident.

This military entity has also warned other military vessels that if they do not comply with the "security regulations" of the Strait of Hormuz, they will "not have a different fate."

The IRGC's statement was released following new military clashes between the U.S. and Iran. However, the only report of an incident involving a ship in the Strait of Hormuz pertains to hours before the U.S. attack on Larak.

سپاه پاسداران روز دوشنبه در بیانیه‌ای که از تلویزیون حکومتی در جمهوری اسلامی منتشر شد از برخورد یک نفتکش غول‌پیکر با دو مین دریایی در تنگه هرمز خبر داد و گفت این نفتکش آتش گرفته و کاملا متوقف شده است.

سپاه در بیانیه‌اش مدعی شد که این نفتکش قصد داشته «به طور غیرقانونی» از بخش جنوبی تنگه هرمز عبور کند.

در پی جنگ آمریکا و اسرائیل با ایران، سپاه مدعی است که عبور کشتی‌ها از بخش جنوبی تنگه هرمز یعنی نزدیک به سواحل عمان غیرقانونی است. این ادعای ایران با قوانین بین‌المللی همخوانی ندارد.

در بیانیه نیروی دریایی سپاه به نام نفتکش و خدمه و مالکیت آن و زمان وقوع حادثه برای آن اشاره‌ای نشده است.

این نهاد نظامی به سایر کشتی‌های نظامی هم هشدار داده است که در صورت پیروی نکردن از «مقررات امنیتی» تنگه هرمز، «سرنوشتی جز این نخواهند داشت.»

بیانیه سپاه پس از وقوع درگیری‌های نظامی تازه آمریکا و ایران منتشر شده است.
اما تنها گزارشی که از بروز سانحه برای یک کشتی در تنگه هرمز خبر می‌دهد مربوط به ساعت‌ها پیش از حمله آمریکا به لارک است.
